| All these posts are crazy old but I just found this site today so I'm adding my 2 cents. Explaining Crass lyrics is pretty pointless because the songs just mean what they say lol! The just like, "the church, state, capitalism, consumerism, greed/wealth, bigotry/racism and war are all very bad and here's why". I love Crass for that reason plus their music/musicianship is amazing. Oh and then there's "Big A little a" which is just like, "don't worry about other people, be whoever you want to" lol! | |

Either way this song's for you" So basically the opening lines of the song are just like, "sing along whether you're a hardcore anarchist or a chill one" lol! |

So way way back in the day, like in the mid 1900s there were cartoons and movies with songs in them and so the people that made the movies would print lyrics on the screen so people could sing along if they wanted to. Those lyrics on the screen had a little bouncing ball that would bounce from word to word so you would know when to sing the lyrics. I think bouncing B is just shorthand for bouncing ball. That and if they'd written "Big A little a bouncing ball" he'd have had to rhyme the next line with "ball" instead of "B" and "ball" obviously doesn't rhyme with "me" lol! |

I think it is about what you're saying but the shaved women collaborators/traitors bit is definitely about the women who were tortured and had their heads shaved in France after the Nazis left. It's about both of those things and more, she's drawing parallels between them all. It's about a lot of the fucked up shit women are subjected to because of fucked up men and their misogyny like in janeaparis1's comment. It's a pretty deep song for only being 8 different lines of lyrics. |
