@[thinskizzy:52091] I feel like Kim expresses a bit of vulnerability about how she feels about her look at times, like with the Coastal Cut-Throat line, but this song seems almost entirely to me about how she is stoked on her looks on this night, and she gives a special shout-out to the stars, which is cool. |

@[xXboyofpaperskinXx:51853] I think you pretty much nailed it except the girl didn't make him feel like she was all he had, I mean, that's his problem. and this is coming from a guy who get's really attached, and after my first serious girlfriend at 17 broke up with me, I thought I'd never date again. Which, based on my 20 years of experience with relationships since then, probably wouldn't have been such a bad outcome for me. |

yo, I get how he feels, but man he has some major hangups about jerking off and should probably just quit. there's a lot of guilt in that floating around in society and sometimes it's better to just stop looking at images if the whole thing's making you sick. one of my favorite metal (and overall) songs of all time. Also, special shout-out to Brian Harvey whenever possible for being one of the illest of all time. And did you know he did it all with giant drumline sticks? |

@[liquidprimus:51738]: that story of blowing their advance on weed is untrue; at least almost entirely. Matt Pike said they spent a lot of money on weed, but $75k of their $100k advance went to equipment. Did you know their amps were so loud they had to put them plus the mics in a different room? |

Al Cisnceros nails it multiple ways: you can tell when people are truthful when you smoke together, you probably can see the future sometimes when you're high, weed does put you closer to the rightful God, and I really hope he's right about judgment coming soon. Also, I am guessing that Eastern Creed could reference the fact that the Chinese are thought to be the first to cultivate weed, and they did so for the purposes of burning it during religious ceremonies. |

| Gil Scott-Heron – Home is Where the Hatred is Lyrics

1971 and Gil Scott-Heron totally nailed the childhood-trauma/substance abuse relationship. He goes into great detail about the pain an addict feels as they try and deal with issues related to their childhood. And like a G, Gil suggets not going home anymore, as that has been a source of emotional pain. As a recovering childhood emotional trauma survivor whose family stayed sick, I highly recommend Gil's suggested course of action related to home, hard as it may be. The feeling of cutting off sick family is so Goddamn liberating |

| Stevie Wonder – Jesus Children Of America Lyrics
| 1 year ago
|
As a confident and devout believer in Jesus Christ, Stevie Wonder actually demonstrates his connection to the SPIRIT by channeling God's Beauty and sending a giant warning to all half-steppers that JC is coming soon, so they had better get clean. How nice of Stevie, who obviously was in-step with GOD on this one, to give notice to all false-believers that there's a very high % of people who say they're committed, who aren't actually allowing JC to flow through themselves. Are you really feeling it? Are you really down for JC like you say you are? Are you you a "soldier"? Real-talk call-out, obviously Stevie know's who's side he's on.
But, Stevie's a solution-oriented soldier for GOD so provides an excellent cure-all for one's issues, regardless of religtion: "You can do transcendental meditation right now and walk with GOD." And then to the junkies he's like yo: "Yo, I know you're not feeling well dude, and there is a way. A MOTHER is there who feels your pain." What a G, Stevie reminds us that MOM's love will solve all your problems, and for the rest of ya'll who are acting like you've been doing what you're supposed to be doing but have not, DAD's coming home soon |

| The Brian Jonestown Massacre – 13 Lyrics
| 1 year ago
|
Yes, these lyrics are pretty insane - Anyway, I cribbed this from the web:
"Some say that "13" by The Brian Jonestown Massacre is a tongue-in-cheek song that criticizes hypocrisy and mocks classic rock musicians who dated teenagers. The song may seem like a creepy ode to marrying or grooming a 13-year-old girl, but Aaron Gilbreath of Wondering Sound interprets it as a way to call out classic rock musicians like Jimmy Page, who dated teenagers."
and this article has another hypothesis: https://themusicexperiment.wordpress.com/2012/09/27/song-of-the-week-13-by-the-brian-jonestown-massacre/ |

left my island - went out of my normal space
met a phantom - met an idea of something I thought I wanted outside of my normal space
memorized a song - said the things I needed to say to keep this thing going
sometimes i think i'm stranded in hotels
hanging from the highest tree in town - something about being away from you on the road?
I'm the monster standing by your heart (love's a demon...) - i'm being a fake to stay with you
a lifesize figure ashamed to be alive (love's a demon...) - I'm acting like the person I thought I needed to be to get what I wanted, but I am unfullfilled, and should return to my island, where I not yearn for pleasures of the flesh |

Not just about gang violence, but poor-on-poor violence, which is a product of the government, because the government wanted and created a system that would cause poverty, knowing it would cause violence amongst the poor. Have you ever heard about that study of monkeys, and when the one group one got beat up by a more dominant group, the group that just got beat up would turn violent amongst themselves? |
