@[pharmageek:47150] Where do you get your information?! NIN is American and wasn't created until 1988. Skinny Puppy was far into their career and had already established themselves as one of the first industrial artists in 1988. NIN was going through birthing pains when Ogre was touring with Ministry and Skinny Puppy had released Rabies.
No, I cannot see the connection of the three bands feeding off of each other's sounds. You're confusing NIN with Ministry. There is NOTHING about NIN that is new or innovative and Reznor basically copied and ripped off SP and Ministry. Reznor has even gone on record saying that Ministry and SP are the "real deal" and NIN is just a piddely little "top 40 band" when he was expression his humility about working with Jorgensen's project, 1000 Homo DJs.

@[Luciferi:47130] I appreciate your thoughts here and I'm grateful that you've shed a little light on the cave walls of this shrouded song. I have one question though- Who is the Warlock?
To me this song, on the very surface, is about Charles Manson and the destruction and fear he left in his wake. Charles Manson is the Warlock, and it's and endearing term to name him as. Charlie is a rotten showstopper, a skinpopper- a babbler dabbler. Someone who dabbles in psycho babble. Charlie is a self confessed criminal putting stock in games and listening to Beatle's talk back rock....with no subsistance, etc etc.
But looking deeper into the one long line, pulling back the perfectly chosen words we see the deeper meaning of the song, which is that humans are a violent race by nature. Listen to the words and watch them match the video. There is so much here, so much hidden and so much to learn as a violent species... |
