| @[mad4it2011:53511] Sorry, tried to edit first one but for whatever reason it wouldn't take. I appreciate what you wrote, dont worry though, there are millions of us MB fan-atics out there who feel as seriously as you do about the music, imho this was not one of the more popular tunes on the album as indicated by what you wrote. | |

| @[mad4it2011:53510] Ray was one of the parts of the MB that made them what they were, he approached music & life itself differently than Justin, Mike & John, imho, having a more whimsical, less serious approach; Graeme was a whole other subject, as most drummers usually are. | |

| Hooters – All You Zombies Lyrics | 9 months ago |
| @[motzo:53417] @[bart104717:53418], you're coming off rather pompous yourself, while I too find his spelling atrocious, you might look beyond that & see how some use that as some kind of a reverse psychology of sorts to get ppl to read what they write; this goes back to the principle behind the saying that "the only thing worse than having ppl talk about you is when they don't." Any publicity, good or bad, is preferable to no publicity. As for his content, I'd say he's pretty much spot-on & don't see where he is implying a belief in atheism, just saying we all ought to use a healthy dose of skepticism concerning traditional beliefs in any narrative handled down to us. | |

| @[itsALLprogramMUSIC:53361]: If you're gay maybe it does relate to you in this way, butcher large majority of ppl who like this song are probably not gay so this thin sliver of its listening audience brings a little hollow for me. This song goes deeper than gender, race, sexuality or any common descriptors, it hits home to all of us who at one time have felt unwanted, unloved, and just generally at odds with everything and everybody, esp someone who has come into the world in an environment bereft of love and caring. The writer succinctly makes the comparison of this pain comparable with someone who's never known a father and someone who's been waiting on a lover who never showed up, realizing they've been kicked to the curb. | |
| The Moody Blues – New Horizons Lyrics | 11 months ago |
| The stanza where he sings, "out of mind, far from view, beyond the reach of a nightmare come true" blows me away, the song goes along like many other love songs/ballads, then he speaks of his existence without her love as being a nightmare come true! That is some serious heartache! I would like to know what you think about this verse, why is he so distraught? | |
| The Rolling Stones – Dear Doctor Lyrics | 1 year ago |
| I wonder if the lyrics "down in Virginia with your cousin Lou" could be a misprint, if she's run off with his cousin, then his name would be Luke as southerners aren't known to name men Lou, not even as a nickname? | |

| Peter Gabriel – Red Rain Lyrics | 1 year ago |
|
After posting my views on this, I ran across what songfacts.com had to say, it added more to the bit I initially found, the last paragraph to me is quite poignant & is one with which I wholeheartedly concur, here 'tis: This was inspired by a recurring dream where Gabriel was swimming in a sea of red water. Gabriel explained to Mojo magazine September 2013: "'Red Rain' was written after a dream I'd had about the sea being parted by two walls. There were these glass-like figures that would screw themselves into each wall, fill up with red blood and then be lowered across the sand, as it were to the next wall, where they'd unload the blood on the other side. I used to have these extremely vivid dreams that scared the hell out of me." Gabriel explained: "If feelings of pain do not get brought out, not only do they fester and grow stronger but they manifest themselves in the external world." |
|
| Peter Gabriel – Red Rain Lyrics | 1 year ago |
| According to P. G. himself, the song is simplistic, being based on a dream about swimming in red wine, wine bottles appearing at the edge of a pool of red wine, then turning into people who smash apart when falling off a poolside/cliff side (?), then leaking red wine after smashing apart, very weird & I would wager that it's more to do with some aspect of P.G.'s subconscious mind & about that only he himself can explain the rest of the meaning. I've done Jungian psychotherapy wherein one learns to interpret [your own] dreams & what they mean as to what's going on with you in real time. Dreams are a channel to the subconscious, no doubt. | |

| Three Dog Night – Eli's Coming (Laura Nyro cover) Lyrics | 1 year ago |
| @[OliverAstro:52060], "Apollo by the bay" is a reference to the Apollo Theater?? Are you nutz, Laura was a deeply introspective person who would not use such a trite reference; you say you don't buy the reference to the mythological Apollo & Daphne story, it is the classic story of breakup, heartache & revenge so the reference to that is, imho, EXACTLY what she meant! | |

| Crowded House – World Where You Live Lyrics | 1 year ago |
|
Here's what Songfacts.com writes: Neil Finn explained the unusual inspiration for this song in a 1998 interview with Goldmine. Said Finn: "I was staying in my manager in L.A.'s house, and there was a woman that lived next door to him who always seemed to be having wild sex at about 6 in the morning. It used to wake me up. And I had no idea anything about her, except that she was really rampantly enjoying the thrash-around. I think that's where I got the lines 'I don't know where you go, do you climb into space, to the world where you live,' just speculating about this mystery life that was going on next door." |

| To me it evokes images of great armies on the march, great battles, of ancient Egypt & possibility of ancient aliens being there to help in some manner, then leaving to find their way back home. This is one of my favorites from J. A. & ranks up with Have You Seen The Saucers. Thirty Seconds Over Winterland was their final studio album & saw them at the apex of their work as a group. | |

| I've always liked Alanis Morissette, her brash, no-holds-barred music and style does a great job of a strident female message about society & does so w/o being a complete b*tch. She's attractive, sexy & makes female emancipation quite attractive. | |
