| The Smashing Pumpkins – Sparrow Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
this song is definitely a Pumpkins tune, very soft and Billy sings it like he does all his acoustic material - you even hear his lips and maybe the turn of a page... I think the song is about remembering someone loved. Maybe from a fleeting moment, it would seem, just as a sparrow; it comes, stays however long, and just as soon disappears. You never know why it came near you in the first place. But you remember it nevertheless. this song was submitted days before the moment ended for me. and the memories began |

| Lauryn Hill – When It Hurts So Bad Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
This song is so cryptic to me! Lauryn is saying two things to me here. Shit went awry in her relationship, but that doesn't mean its hopeless.... she really wanted to work it out, but she couldn't. But she's also saying that it's notalways hopeless, and that one shouldkeep trying until it's really over. I think this song can be taken two ways. In my mind it really means that the girl should do what she needs and wants... either that means leaving him (ironically the next song on the album is "I Used To Love Him") or she should try and work it out somehow. it says he used to be unconcerned and he neglected her. But it says nothing about there not being hope.. The whole song is based on how she still loved him, and if she does, then mabe there's something left to salvage... why's it feel so good, then? There's no finality in this song. It could end either way. If love is involved, then keep trying, I say. |

| Foo Fighters – Up In Arms Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I loved this song since I first heard it, but it never really hit home until a few weeks ago...I am sort of on the rocks with my girl.. I'm hoping this song is something I can believe in, as a beacon of hope. | |
| Blue Rodeo – Five Days In May Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
One of the nicest Blue Rodeo songs in my opinion..the lyrics are really well laid out and orchestration is just beautiful... I always thought it was about how some relationships just "hit you by surprise", when you least expect it, without looking for them... the song starts in a hurricane, which can be related to emotional upheaval, (stress, personal issues) which distract them from looking for love.. then the song jumps to a beach, where there is calm, and even writing a name in the sand has a sense of permanence (evidence of tranquility found). What I don't get is the "five days in May"... is this some reference to the ephemeral nature of spontaneous relationships? They disappear without any mention of an outcome...so I'm left wondering.... |

| Billy Talent – When I Was A Little Girl Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
I did my best deciphering the lyrics, and took a little help from the ears of others, but some parts are pretty damn hard to figure out. I'm sure many of you will disagree with some of the lyrics... but anyways I think the song is about someone who is sick of their significant other, and just wants to get rid of them and all they represent. it's sad people end relations this way, but I guess it happens. |

| Simon and Garfunkel – The Boxer Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| The last few lines seem to represent "the boxer' losing his mind or his intellect, perhaps after too many fighting injuries... it's as if the boxer's sanity is trickling away, but the fighting instincts still persist.. It's almost like his reasoning is seceding. Funny how it just pops in at the end of the song, like an afterthought, but without too much actual thought put into it... Something I've noted in this song anyway. to me it doesn't fit in with the rest of the lyrics, so I thought of what else it could mean. | |

A question I have heard this song sung by neil Diamond, with different lyrics.. i wonder if he took the song from Cohen or if it was the other way around? |

Awesome song. Jut so real if you can relate to it... |

| Jim Croce – New York's Not My Home Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
Good song. I love the first few lines: "Well things were spinnin' round me And all my thoughts were cloudy And I had begun to doubt all the things that were me" ... I wonder how he could share these words so passionately; he sounds like he really meant them, but it's hard to talk about something that personal... Anyways just a great song. |

| Jim Croce – Photographs And Memories Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I think this is one of the best Jim Croce songs I've heard... can relate to it so easily.... He just knows how to say things... A wonderful song | |

What a great songwriter Croce was... rest in peace... This is one of the only songs that I can relate to right now.. so true to me. Great song |

| Jim Croce – Thursday Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
I JUST came out of a situation like this, except she wasn't playing me, but it did end up just being my dream. And she was looking for a lover, too, but she found that lover somewhere else. So now I remain her friend. Well it just happened to me, so its fresh on my mind, but I can relate to this song, actually most of Croce's love songs touch me in this way. Forgive my rambling, lol |

| Eww Dude Seriously – I'm My Own Grandpaw Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
HAHA As an aspiring anthropologist I took the time to analyze this... it's pretty whacked but it actually make sense.... if you count 'step-dad' or 'step-mom' as actual 'dad' or 'mom' for example, it would mean he is his own grandfather... crazy stuff... That's why incest is a bad idea. |
|
| Red Hot Chili Peppers – Under the Bridge Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
Just a spectacular song! It makes sense that the song is about heroin, but I also find it has to do a lot with just being lonely, and wanting to get out of that sutuation. So, it could mean trying to overcome an addiction, and also wanting to overcome depression... |
|
| Foo Fighters – Doll Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
I think this song relates how a person knows someone for a long time, and then finds themselves falling in love with them... I think this because I've been in the situation myself, so it sort of relates that sentiment, to me at least... The line "Doll me up in my bad luck" seems to say, "take notice of my faults, see who I am, but realize that there's more to me than my past indiscretions"...maybe it refers to how he probably screwed up in the past, and wants to reconcile with the other, like in the lne "I'll meet you there..." Just my thoughts anyway. |

| Radiohead – I Will. (No Man's Land.) Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
I think this song is simply beautiful. The melody goes with Thom's voice so seamlessly... I love how the song sounds like a lullaby, and he sings of how "I won't let this happen to my children" and uses the imagery of "Little babies' eyes..." The depiction of those young and impressionable eyes makes me think of how the song itself impresses us... and draws our attention to what it says... The song is genius. *** P.S. from the earlier post above, It was "Like Spinning Plates" I downloaded by mistake after all, as 'I Am Not Amused' said. Sorry about the confusion there heh |
|
| Red Hot Chili Peppers – Venice Queen Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I always thought it was about a close person dying, or leaving... it's easily taken either way. Just a wonderful song. | |
| Foo Fighters – February Stars Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
Such a wonderful song, this one. Foo Fighters are awesome! I think this song in particular has something to do with a relationship that is dwindling away... He's trying to hold onto it but his grip is slipping and it's falling away and out of touch... Really sad, and the worst thing is it's not uncommon for most people to experience something like this...You feel like you belong somewhere, or with someone, but you're slowly coming to the conclusion that it just won't last forever. It's a 'coming to terms with' sort of song. My opinion, anyway, awesome frickin's song! |
