Wurme – Do Not Come Lyrics 4 months ago
I find the juxtaposition of Donald trump listing powerful men who visited him against Kamala Harris telling illegal migrants not to come to the US absurd and humerous.

Sturgill Simpson – Long White Line Lyrics 7 months ago
Double meaning to the long white line as taking cocaine - on the one hand it's an innocent trucking song, but it's also the tale of a man coming out of a relationship, wallowing and spending all his money on blow.

Dion and the Belmonts – The Wanderer Lyrics 1 year ago
I think this song is describing the perils of being a wanderer. Dion is Christian and has some quite conservative beliefs, amongst them are that casual relationships bring pain to both parties.

The wanderer with his "two fists of iron" suggests he possesses great strength and control, but also he's clenched in fear/anger? He's going nowhere, the repetition on around around around... suggests it's tedius for him. And he could fall for girls, but a barely thought through compulsion making him "hop right into that car".

Dion is saying that people like this appear happy, but are miserable.

Rancid – Time Bomb Lyrics 3 years ago
This sounds like the story of a smart boy who grew up in a broken home in a bad neighbourhood surrounded by violence and crime.

"Like a cat take him to the youth authority home" - he gets sent to some juvenile home, or youth jail, but this just hardens him against the world. Teaches him he can't trust anyone and believes he has to make it in the world alone because of the trauma he's been through.

When he get's out, his smarts and determination only get him so far - get him a suit and Cadillac, but it's from dealing or organised crime. So it's not long before he's shot and killed.

Time bomb - growing up alone, not trusting anyone, leads to a hard and short life.

Muna – Silk Chiffon (feat. Phoebe Bridgers) Lyrics 3 years ago
It reminds me of long teenage summer nights out in the city, on roller blades without a care in the world... learning about love or infatuation.

The Distillers – The Young Crazed Peeling Lyrics 5 years ago
This song is about Brody introducing herself, it's the first song by the Distillers most people here, so the lyrics are very apt.

Brody Dalle grew in Melbourne, and moved to LA when she was 18 with the money the Australian government compensated her for sexual abuse settlements.

The man from California is Tim Armstrong, Rancid's singer.

This song is also about growing up in deprived and hostile environment, but that everyone has the tools to get away from it.
