Death Cab for Cutie – Brothers on a Hotel Bed Lyrics 5 years ago
@[Linesk:33505] Close, but no. This song is about a couple growing old.

"No longer easy on the eyes but these wrinkles masterfully disguise the youthful boy below" keywords: wrinkles and youthful boy. He's older now, he's saying she may tire of him because he's no longer a young attractive man.

"But now he lives inside someone he does not recognize when he catches his reflection on accident"
Again, outlining that he lives in a body that he doesn't recognize because his body has grown old and unrecognizable to him.

Death Cab for Cutie – Your Hurricane Lyrics 5 years ago
"Cause every time there's a knock on my door
I fall to my hands and knees on the floor
'Cause when your wreckage washes up on my shore
You're not like before"

Sounds like someone thats struggling with addiction, the narrator is likely someone that has tried to help many times in the past but the person refuses help.

Death Cab for Cutie – I Dreamt We Spoke Again Lyrics 5 years ago
Seems pretty obvious. He's likely dreaming of his ex that he hasn't spoken to in awhile, there is always conversation in dreams... but upon waking its near impossible to remember everything that is said.

"It'd been so long, it'd been so long my mind filled in the blanks"
Since he couldn't remember what she said, this is likely him filling in the blanks to what he was hoping she said in the dream.

"Is anything, is anything the way it used to be?"
This is kind of the dead giveaway, I take it as him waking up to reality wondering if the clock has turned back to the 'good ole days' of a relationship long gone.

This happens to me often, so thats why I figure the lyrics are so obvious as to what going on here.

John Butler Trio – Seeing Angels Lyrics 5 years ago
No comments in 15 years and no one giving guesses to the songs meaning, so I'll bite.

I hate thinking every song is a love song, but this truly is. I can relate to it so well. To me, it's about someone with very low self esteem, likely going through some depression. The person never thought they would meet someone that was made for them, but, an angel appears and changes his life. The angel quenches their thirst (thirst for a real relationship) and makes them feel like they are first ("cures" him of their low self-esteem)

The ending is about them, having grown old, the person wonders if their angel still sees what they saw in them when they first fell in love, as they still have the same vulnerabilities and they hope these vulnerabilities have not worn the angel out. I think the last verse is hoping that the person has/can somehow repay the angel for saving their life.

I hope I'm correct. Its fucking beautiful. I want some of these lyrics tattooed on my body.
