This might be a reach, but after reading the lyrics it makes me think this song might be referencing the relationship between her and John Meyer. The lines “chasing shadows in the grocery line” , “you’d come back to me” and “your heartbeat on the high line”.....they’re all song lines in Meyer songs. I’m not suggesting she has longing for him or anything of that nature but maybe she was reminiscing about past love. Nostalgia maybe? |

Inez and James are the names of Blake lively and Ryan Reynolds daughters, who Taylor is very close with. You can also hear Inez or James speak on the track Gorgeous ....some say the song Betty is named after the couples 3rd daughter who no knows the name of yet. |

I think this is one of the most vulnerable songs Taylor has written. It’s sweet and lovely yet Insecure and unstable. I think we’ve all felt the need for the one we love to always have eyes for us. To keep them looking at us....I also think this is the one song she might reference the pandemic. “They say the end is near”.... this song is quite beautiful and raw. The album is one of a kind ....see good things always happen along side bad things. This world wide pandemic has left everyone in a different state than before it happened but somehow good things have also been born out of it and this album is one of them. Thank you Taylor. For always being YOU |

This song is most certainly NOT about the pandemic. That’s just silly. Just bc she wrote it during the pandemic doesn’t mean it’s about the pandemic. But hey, if that’s what you get out of it, to each his own. |
