This sums up Anthonys entire life. At first I thought it was just about drugs like so many rhcp songs, and its Kiedis right? Starting off with his love of the Beatles and an early 60's tv show. Touching quickly on his parents and growing up in the cold war. He quickly moves to driving down Calexico from LA to mexico, for drugs? Or just an escape from the la life, enjoy the little things like happiness and a little bit of weed whilst staring up at the sky. Seems like he's just saying that he's a very simple creature, like a lot of us are, in a complex world. Beautiful. |

Man, I cant believe how fkin awesome this song is and only 2 comments. So you've picked up by now the concept for Emperor is a man who has been sent out into the desert to die, and is based around ancient south american culture- see nazca lines- steambreather. The theme for this album is cancer- a death sentence in itself. The Jaguar God is the Mayan god of the underworld, the devil himself. So the song is basically trying together the entire album into one climatic fucking eargasm So set aside the self reflection intro and we start with terrestial fire ascending from underground. The devils at your doorstep bitch. Black obsidian an ancient crystal with healing properties- an attempt to cure A throne of malady- the sickness and malignancy again, the cancer. Brann mentioned that at the end of the story the person simultaneously dies AND is saved Man.. The final riff gloriously drains out and your just left with that imagery.. fuck yeah |
