Collective Soul – Wasting Time Lyrics 6 years ago
I think this one is about how a girl is becoming too toxic or difficult for him to handle, and he can't take it anymore. One day, he realizes that she's just wasting time with him until someone better comes along or she dies. She's wasting her life, and because he cares he was wasting his as well. So the song is about him throwing in the towel, telling her that he knows what she's thinking, and asks her to leave before she can do more damage.

Līve – Stage Lyrics 6 years ago
Isn't this song about not wanting to be caught off guard when Christ returns? We're all on our stages, thinking in our own ways, having our own thoughts, and we aren't at all prepared for the things that are coming. He doesn't want to die. He doesn't want to experience the death that comes with not being prepared. Humanity thinks that if we give up the stage, then Christ will 'finally' be able to reign. That's what the second to last verse is saying, while the last verse is pointing out that the reality is that Christ already knows what's going on. He has the Plan, and it's not about Christians 'accepting' Him. It's about whether Christ enlightens him or not. So he's essentially saying, "I know you have your long term Plan, but can you let me in on what that is? I don't want to experience the same meaningless death that almost everyone else will feel when You return."

Panic! at the Disco – Emperor's New Clothes Lyrics 7 years ago
Is it really as simple as 'he wants what's his?' Given his other works, he knows full well that we all don't really own anything in this world. I don't think he's talking about what he wants, but rather what he believes we all are made of on the inside. There's another song that did this by Billy Dean, called Race You to the Bottom. While it's a little more ambiguous here, I think that's what he's going for. Throughout our lives, we begin to desire more and more worldly things that won't matter in the long run, hence the religious imagery in the music video. He goes from an innocent person to a demon, tainted by the garbage in the world. This is further backed up by the verses in between the much wilder choruses, which talk about how the 'mortal' kings rule their castles and liars settle into sockets. It's pretty self righteous/harmful to have a message as simple and blatant as 'I want what's mine.' Sure, if you don't really look at it, it sounds exactly like that. But break the lyrics down and you'll find something more along the lines of a lost child looking to break free from the restraints that bind them to society.
