I want to feel
I want to try
I want to rock in the city tonight
I want to deal
don't want to die
I want to bring my captain hook into the light
people I've seen my day
ranting and raving this beauty away
we are by and large the same
but words are too feeble they cannot contain
he was a "rock and roll messiah"
she was no Voodoo Chile yeah
the truth is gonna give up the world
if you can give up the stage
if I can give up the stage
if we can give up the stage
come to this, I can't come to you
don't do this, wake me up tonight
come to this, I can't come to you
don't do this, wake me up tonight
(p.s. do not drive and swear!)

This feels like a semi-hedonistic song, about being somewhere in your life that makes you seem more alive than the people who are 'ranting and raving this beauty away', a place that, once you find it, you can't leave. try listening to U2's "gone" it gives me the same impression
Maybe I'm wrong.... it sounds like he is a rock star, she is his housewife. She wants him to come home to her, he wants her to come to the show or something. The stage may be some rocky part of their marriage or the stage where they argue things out. Just a thought.
i think he is just so into his music that he wants her to understand that this is what he has to do and there is nothing he that will stop him "yes he loves her but maybe she just wants him to come home" but he wants her to watch him on stage when he is playing because he knows that when shes in the croud he has to play the best show everytime !!!!!

It's about Courtney Love and Kurt Cobain's relationship
I am pretty sure he isn't singing "I want to deal." I think the lyrics actually are: "I wanna be young, don't wanna die, I wanna bring my Captain Hook into the light."
That is a clear reference to Peter Pan.
Isn't this song about not wanting to be caught off guard when Christ returns? We're all on our stages, thinking in our own ways, having our own thoughts, and we aren't at all prepared for the things that are coming. He doesn't want to die. He doesn't want to experience the death that comes with not being prepared. Humanity thinks that if we give up the stage, then Christ will 'finally' be able to reign. That's what the second to last verse is saying, while the last verse is pointing out that the reality is that Christ already knows what's going on. He has the Plan, and it's not about Christians 'accepting' Him. It's about whether Christ enlightens him or not. So he's essentially saying, "I know you have your long term Plan, but can you let me in on what that is? I don't want to experience the same meaningless death that almost everyone else will feel when You return."
