"Re-entry blown, while I was gone tilt of axis changed " The music world has moved on. He has been released by his record company (Columbia). He has no band... "I have no home"... Jerry was hoping to get back into the 'music scene' with AIC but it didn't happen. After 1995's self-titled LP there was a long hiatus. Boggy Depot came about, then the Music Bank (Get Born Again was a riff from the Degradation Trip era) but then it all went quiet again in AIC world.......... Hence, Jerry's Degradation Trip 1999-2000. It's important to remember that Jerry never wanted to go solo. It happened out of necessity rather than design. He's lost, alone etc. Partly, his own making too. He acknowledges his own faults (and then some!) throughout this album . |

"Give it a name like a howling blue hound" Jerry used to have a pet dog that was a Bluetick Coonhound (a breed related to the Grand Bleu de Gascogne). It was called 'Monkey'. Hence, "fed the monkey man" from 'Between' on the Boggy Depot LP. Always thought this song could/should have been a single. Very f**king cool. "Slowly all the roles we act out become our identity And in the end we are what we pretend to be" Yet more Jerry genius. |

As Murmandamus said, 31/32 could be their respective ages since Jerry was a year older than Layne and these songs were written around 1999-2000 when they would have been about 31/32......... Trouble is lots of people think most of Jerry's songs are about Layne even when they're not. This song may have nothing to do with Layne. Lots of people think most of DT 1 & 2 is about Layne but it's not. Layne was alive in 1999/2000. Jerry was aged 31/32 during his 'Degradation Trip' so it could just be about him. Large fancy hotels do have double suites where two rooms are joined together to make one large room. I have seen "31/32" on a hotel room door. It's a beautiful song. |
