The Smashing Pumpkins – Pug Lyrics 8 years ago
This song is horrible and disfigured, similarly to an actual pug.

The Smashing Pumpkins – Glass + the Ghost Children Lyrics 8 years ago
I used to listen to the 2007 live versions of this song. It was absolutely beautiful, just kinda how fast it was, it almost put me to sleep, in a good way. The ending part, which I've dubbed as "Phase II: Ghost Children" has always been my favorite.

Also, this song got me through some rough times awhile back. So, this song reminds me of a period in eighth grade (was from Mid-September to late February) where I was kinda going through a rough time in my life (was apart of a bigger, continual, rougher time in my life, where basically I listened to Machina nonstop).

This song is perfectly edgy. Probably one of their edgiest songs.

The Smashing Pumpkins – Mama Lyrics 8 years ago
This is such an amazing song, it's a total shame no one has commented on it yet.

For me, this tune is super catchy for some reason, and it gets stuck in my head. Sadly, it's a depressing song for me. It's how innocent the lyrics Billy came up with are. I really hope if American Gothic gets a reissue, the Residency songs are released, in studio quality, on the second disc.

Now, since I first heard this song in eighth grade, it reminds me of two girls who went to my middle school. The first one is just randomly symbolic of this girl who was new to my school in eighth grade. The second girl was someone who I had feelings for in seventh grade, but them dropped them out of total embarrassment. I still had classes with her, however. So, this just lead to me imagining her and my friend in Texas sitting in some rural home. However, my Texan friend is older than her, so it doesn't make total sense.

Since I have time, I'll give an elaboration into this second girl and the Texan friend idea. Since they both look like, my brain decides, "BOOM! mother and son," despite him being younger. However, my brain irons this out as, "she's just grown old, and that's why he's taller". Anyway, I can just imagine my Texan friend is visiting this girl (the girl who I had a crush on in 7th btw) who lives out in some rural region. The tone is innocent because the two had a fight or something, and he's visiting her just to visit her. Childhood memories flood back to him, and that's also why the song has an innocent tone. While he's discontent with her (lyrics), she was also still his mother for all those years (the upbeat tone of the song).

The Smashing Pumpkins – This Time Lyrics 8 years ago
I never really knew the beginning lyrics, and when I just read them, it just stung. Like, really stung. The first set of lines hit the hardest, and, "I really must be told, if it's over" probably hits the hardest, for many reasons. Now that I read over these lyrics, it all starts falling into place. Like, I knew it was about the Pumpkins ending, I just didn't know it was to THAT extent.

@[sibilation:22431] I think it means "spirit of the times", not "love of life". But then again, this is just if my memory serves me right.

No, that was during either the Gish or Siamese Dream era, I believe. The real scoop is that Jimmy played this all in one take. Apparently, he doesn't hit the snare drum until somewhere at the six minutes.

It's a pretty self-explanatory song. He took an amazing girl for granted. Now it haunts him and he yearns to be with her again. It's definitely not drugs lmao, not every song's about drugs. But paying attention to the lyrics just makes me kinda tear up. Especially "She was always there / For you to kick around / But now she's let you down". It seems like something I'd do :(

Lorde – Green Light Lyrics 8 years ago
“Green Light” is about those little moments in your life when you stumble out of a Chinese buffet and throw up on the sidewalk and get arrested and throw up in jail too and then someone bails you out but won’t give you a ride home because you stink like Chinese buffet vomit so you walk home and then see a cool bird outside the police station and you chase it up a streetlight and you get up there but the bird flies away so you’re stuck up there and you look at the traffic light dangling below you and then one of the lights is green and so is the shirt you’re wearing and you’re like, “Nice.”
