@[Freatlebeak:46144] ...um, no. 1. The song is primarily about two things, the escape from Allen Klein (the manager who ripped them and the Stones off to an almost unreal degree), and his and Linda's incarceration in Japan. 2. The connection between Manson and The Beatles existed solely in Manson's twisted mind. Nevertheless, because of the highly publicized trial that connection became firmly established in the public consciousness to McCartney's eternal regret. The absolute LAST thing he would have done is write a song about something that should never have existed in the first place. |

@[OneInchPunch:43659] In fact Ronnie's on the record as saying how much he hated handguns. He owned one old rifle that was mounted above his fireplace for decoration because it used to belong to his grandfather. There's no ambiguity about the lyrics whatsoever, he meant what he said, as he generally did. Ironically, one of the few really metaphorical songs he ever wrote was Gimme Back My Bullets, which is about cleaning up his act and straightening up before he seriously damaged himself and has nothing to do with guns. |

| It, like basically all of skynyrd's lyrics, is autobiographical. The song tells the story of the night they were 'discovered' in an Atlanta bar by an MCA A&R rep. The Yankee Slicker, however, is Al Kooper who produced their first albums. | |

| @[whatadouche:33633] And your 'interpretation' as you call it would have a tad more weight if Geezer Butler himself hadn't said multiple times that it's about the Devil falling in love. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar...but it always sucks to be you. | |

Cook it? He's singing "cocaine, cocaine, cocaine" The song is about Jimmy Page. The entire band and retinue used drugs heavily for the first few years, but by the time this album was made Plant and JPJ were more or less clean. Jimmy, unfortunately, was finding it impossible to kick heroin and, contrary to what he likes to say in interviews, the dope was clearly affecting the band in a negative way. Presence is the darkest, least unified album Zep ever made...not that it isn't a fantastic album, it is. Looking at pictures from this time it's easy to tell how strung out Page was. Thankfully he's looking a lot healthier these days. |

@[the:20462] scenic world - unless you've experienced opiate addiction (and I, unfortunately have) it is nearly impossible to grasp just how central a place it holds in the addicted person's life. Having read all of Keith's lyrics I can say with certainty that the twin images of heroin and Anita inform virtually every song he wrote. From what I understand, Keith wrote this song in his Roll's Royce while parked outside the house where Anita and Mick were filming Performance. As to this song specifically, and this is just my opinion, but I've always seen the song as Keith's admission that he's completely unable to quit either smack or Anita. |

I have to go with 'laid a divorcee in NYC' - it just seems to make more sense when taken together with the next line. Poor Keef (for some reason I always see Keith as the narrator of this adventure) had to fend off an overly amorous divorcee...for a while that is...or at least until she produced her supply of the magical white dust and all was suddenly well with the world. If I really wanted to extrapolate and go out on a colossal limb, I would also say that Keith resisting her advances probably had a lot to do with his smack habit at the time. Heroin is a well-known sex drive killer. So what does she do? She counteracts the heroin with a nose full of coke and suddenly Keith's little guitar hero stands to attention and whips off a killer solo. |
