As dark and beautiful as this song is, its about a man victimized by love, and by saying he is lost, he cannot find his strength. By having his woman leave him, the feeling of abandonment will make him stronger when recovered from the sadness. |

Imagine this song being played during the Spanish Inquisition (translated). That'd teach those fairy pieces of shit to not torture innocent, independent believers in their own philosophies. |

Theres only three songs ive ever heard in my 21 years that have made me shed tears. This is one of them. It's generally about convincing in desperation to a woman that she is no casual "next-in-line" individyal in a relationship, but someone significant in mans life with all of the desired qualities. |

This track is most certainly about incompetence and ineptitude. Chuck is really able to see these transparent weaklings in our community and point out the disgraceful trend-following sheep that "thrive off of clichês." He can highlight through these lyrics that there are those who let their incompetence consume them due to laziness and self-centered mindsets, and there are those who at least try to deminish their incompetence by preventing themselves from experiencing the "comdemning fear" of learning from what life's lessons can teach them. |

| Opeth – The Twilight Is My Robe Lyrics

This song does have a deep meaning most cannot understand. Theyre righte about the oath sworn to Satan, but Mikael is really referring to the events in ones life that drive them to hate what they are...human...and wish that they could die to be reborn as a pure form of nature, like the "birds of the sun separating dark clouds." By this "oath to breathe" Mikael meant the oath to keep on living as a human to avoid the guilt from the pain one would cause those who love them and would want them to live as they are if they were to commit suicide. To avoid the guilt of selfishness, one cannot die unless no one wants that said person to live. It's a trap. |
