Here is what the actual meaning from an interview: Ã…kerfeldt said that "The Twilight Is My Robe" used to be called "Oath" and "is a satanic song. Like an oath to Satan."
Nothing very deep here unless you're into the occult like akerfeldt was when he was younger. This song use to be called "oath" and is basically an oath to Satan. That seemed to be the reoccurring theme on this album.
This is a cool song. The long, soft, quiet section in the middle has some great lyrics ( the paragraph starting with 'the birds of the sun...' ). Also, after that there is a deadly bass riff which seemed out of place to me at first but definitely grew on me.
Great song overall.

hmm like most lyrics on orchid its not really lyric with a deep meaning. it sounds a little like a power metal text about warriors. cant get much more out of it and i doubt there is much meant with this song. all the lyrics on orchid are like this
my fav song by opeth. the ending is just purely magical.
