Agh, this brought back a flood of memories I didn't realise I still had from that sun-drenched summer. The enthusiasm, the genuine belief that England could go all the way and win it. I think growing up then spoiled me - thinking it was normal to have so many world-class players in an England team (Ashley Cole, Ferdinand, Terry, Beckham, Lampard, Gerrard, Rooney). That was England's best chance to win since 1966, and they'll never get close again. I'll always be grateful for the memories the team gave us |

I'll always remember this song playing in a montage on the BBC just after England were knocked out of the 2006 world cup on penalties by Portugal. It was a truly heartbreaking song - yet so right for the moment too. This song is poignant beyond belief. One of the PSB's more underrated songs - it attracts a surprising amount of hate from PSB fans.
As others have already said, the meaning of the song is clear. |

One of their more underrated songs, I feel. It has a very, very early 2000s sound to it (which makes sense, given when it was written).
Most FOW songs don't have the deepest, most intellectual lyrics, and this one is not really any different to that, which is fine. It's catchy, easy listening, and was the perfect choice for the ending to Scary Movie.
Also, RIP Adam Schlesinger. Hope you get to heaven soon. |

I remember this song was used as the backing track for the montage at the end of the BBC's coverage of the 2007 cricket world cup. Many fond memories from a simpler and more innocent time. Everything about the song, the lyrics and the style is very heavily mid 2000s - a time I will forever miss. |
