The Fray – Vienna Lyrics 7 years ago
Maybe this is about him and his brother (the bass player Caleb). Caleb had been kicked out of the band, and he possibly moved to Vienna(?). Slade hopes that one day he'll meet him at the train station when he comes back, then they can make up, that perhaps in five or ten years, maybe even their children ("yours and mine will meet again, straighten this whole thing out") will be friends and they can just be a family again, regardless of what happened.
But Slade's questioning whether or not that'll ever be possible: "Am I already gone?"
The long-distance melody he talks about is the songs they're writing without him, and yet some of them are still about him (Cable Car is probably about Caleb, possibly this one?) and the fact that he wishes things would have turned out better.
But Caleb's maverick (freedom) was in going to Vienna to escape for a while.
That's how I see it.

The Fray – Absolute Lyrics 7 years ago
@[silvaros:26585] I think the Bible reference "Man was born to trouble, like sparks fly upwards" refers to Job, as in he feels like he is being punished for no reason – he is "innocent," and yet he's had to struggle so much in his life.

Coldplay – Sleeping Sun Lyrics 8 years ago
@[Christiaan33:23987] The sleeping sun may refer to the sunset or the moon, like the sun during the nighttime. Perhaps him and the other person he's singing about are watching the sunset.

Toto – Mushanga Lyrics 8 years ago
The only thing I found regarding the meaning of Mushanga is "Mu shanga," of Swahili, meaning "In the nations." Not sure that's what it means, but it could be close. Maybe it's an affectionate, colloquial term of the region?
"Africa" does talk about the artist's visit to Africa and how he fell in love with the country. Maybe "Mushanga" is about a person who introduced him to the country, or perhaps the country itself.

Don Henley – The Boys of Summer Lyrics 9 years ago
There are some people that have embedded themselves into your emotions without even trying, and Henley knows what that's like.
"I thought I knew what love was,
What did I know?
Those days are gone forever,
I should just let 'em go, but..."

The use of "I should just let 'em go, BUT" is telling people that even though he wanted to just move on and forget about the impression that girl made on him, he also can't deny that he doesn't still feel disappointed about leaving her.

U2 – Every Breaking Wave Lyrics 9 years ago
"We all have the fear to win,
and so we end before we begin."

A lot of people are scared of going into a relationship because they feel as though they'll just get hurt again, and so they just never try.
It's like that quote
"You haven't failed until you stop trying."
