It actually is one of their best songs.. the numbers in the beginning indicate some sort of a competition between the girl and the boy.. he's telling her that, she's winning and that it doesn't really matter because he already considered that he lost, and he's been hurting for some time.. he's showing her that, divided, they're both worth nothing no matter whose winning. it's not a competition anymore and it's as easy as asking questions, getting the answers and thus giving their love the manifestation and peace it deserves.
I'm so sad this song isn't more popular. It's a particular favorite of mine.
It's pretty obvious he has some issues with whoever he's singing about. They have a lot of history, but she's not the most reliable person. I just have a feeling it's a girl.
Smart acoustic songs by Coldplay have been rare in the last time. This is one and I'd like to have more of them. Even if they are not at the form of "Careful where you stand" or "See you soon".

@Christiaan33 The sleeping sun may refer to the sunset or the moon, like the sun during the nighttime. Perhaps him and the other person he's singing about are watching the sunset.

Though I'm reading the song in a different context, I'll have to take note of the following:
"We're [a] piece in the jigsaw" sounds more like 'piecin' a jigsaw.'
The song involves two people. The second stanza refers to a person with their secrets, speaking of the other person who seems to be happier. This person, with their 'sleeping sun' (a sun waiting to rise, I believe), assures the other that their answers will come.
The jigsaw stanza then speaks of a happy ending, maybe?: "You've got your answers," - referring to the one with secrets finding purpose - "we have both got the sleeping sun."
The song itself isn't exactly jolly but it's light-hearted enough. A sun waiting to rise... Sleeping?

I love this song, Chris' voice is lovely in it. I'm surprised there aren't more comments on it.
