Ok..the lines sorrow has left me here and I'll become the lost.. are probably like the saddest lines of any song I've ever heard since this song is obviously referring to Armageddon or Rapture.
There's also a line I hear them call the tide.. so if you havebeen on a beach and seen the tide drain the water away to make the beach go out farther than you thought possible, then you have seen something cool, but what if it kept going and there was no more water? Rev21:1 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away (vanished), and there is no longer any sea"..so is this "them calling the tide"? Making the ocean vanish? I don't know. There's also a line "the sun will fade and all we are is all we made"...this is reminesent of 2Pet3:10 "
But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will vanish with a [mighty and thunderous] roar, and the [material] elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and the works that are on it will be burned up."..so all we made are the works on it that will be burned up..the English Standard Translation gets even more specific to say "and the heavenly bodies[a] will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed."..so it's more than just a hot sun scorching the earth...it's heavenly bodies(everything?)being burned up and earth with all we made being exposed to the dissolving blast |

He misses her and how it was. He was there for her at her worst, but she wasn't there for him when he needed her, all the roads she took came back to him therefore he's going to follow the map that leads him back to her. I like the tune and the beat, but these words are too ambiguous on what he means. He loves her, she doesn't love him, but the paths she takes lead her to him so he's following a map to her? He must have been drunk and wandering the streets lost when he wrote this. |

To me this song is about a man who has it all..looks..money..whatever his heart desires. He is ending his relationship with her simply because she isn't his equal socially and she's telling him facetiously that is doesn't hurt her and if he wants to know how it feels to be dumped by someone like him "Do you want to know how it feels, do you want to know that it doesn't hurt me?" Then she proceeds to talk about her wish/deal with God that they would switch places and that she'd be running up to him quickly if the deal would really be allowed. She wishes she could steal this moment where she is being rejected by him from him. "Is there so much hate for the ones we love"...that line really gets at me especially if you've been thru a divorce and seen everything go bitter/hateful. Kate is/was ahead of her time. |
