I'm certain I'm digging too deeply, but the chorus makes me think of how we're all destined for peace and happiness in the afterlife. In spite of our shortcomings, sins, mistakes, whatever. I know not everyone believes this but I do and it makes me love this song that much more. |

I actually think this song is pretty deep. The chorus is great advice in my opinion. I love the way John Prine uses what seem to be normal personal experiences intertwined with some more meaningful philosophical stuff in his songs. It makes for a fun, interesting story. |
