DAMN good song. I actually do think about blowing up my TV nearly every day. I'd be better off without it. But then I'd be out like $400. Might be worth it. Hmmm... peaches.
Seems John Prine is commenting on the Vietnam war since he is a soldier on his way to Canada. Also, just a spoof on a beautiful dancer he met in a bar. They sound like they went away to commune with nature...
I actually think this song is pretty deep. The chorus is great advice in my opinion. I love the way John Prine uses what seem to be normal personal experiences intertwined with some more meaningful philosophical stuff in his songs. It makes for a fun, interesting story.
