| I actually view this song as a satire of the idea that for something to be "art", it needs to be really dark or tragic. The narrator repeatedly mentioning his "rhymes" makes me suspect that he's some kind of writer who holds this belief. Because he believes that true art can only come from misery, he deliberately makes himself as miserable as possible. In the end, despite how much pain he's put himself through, he's grateful for it and believes that it made him a better artist. | |
