| Ride – Taste Lyrics | 9 years ago |
|
I think this song is about infidelity... "The taste just slips away" I think that lyric is referring to the taste of woman (or even more metaphorically the taste of her personality the taste of her love, etc.). This particular taste is the idea that like any other taste the flavor is fleeting and you have a tendency to forget what that taste feels like when you haven't had it for a while. He has forgotten the taste and in doing so has cheated on this girl, and he wants to tell her what he has done, but as he says "As hard as it can be, it can feel so wrong" because even though you want to tell the truth, it can be so hard, especially the fear of loosing them. and the worst part is that he's destroyed the relationship because as the first lyric states "Floating like a smoke ring, it cannot be regained, now it's touched, now its broken" |

| Owl City – On The Wing Lyrics | 9 years ago |

Like most owl city songs there's lots of imagery, and it's hard to conjure any meaning from it, but there's one line that sticks, is "Below the northern lights, I spend my coldest nights, alone, awake, thinking of the weekend we were in love". Recently I had a very short stint with a girl, we were having fun, a bit drunk, and made a connection over the idea that people in high school don't really want to talk about anything interesting, and keep their emotions inside instead of talking about it. We both talked about how we had to stoop down intellectually to find people to hangout with. But after that "perfect" night it wasn't the same, maybe she only liked me when she was drunk, who knows. But for a couple hours, we were on "a wing", the world was away for a little bit. That is what this song is about, being in love for just a minute and loathing over losing that love. |

| Beach Fossils – Youth Lyrics | 9 years ago |
| I read on a Beach Fossils session on daytrotter saying that the song is about being in a fight and the feelings surrounding being in that situation. I think this is a great interpretation. | |
| Beach Fossils – Generational Synthetic Lyrics | 9 years ago |

this song encapsulates the feeling of the social media generation. Everyone now a days has a much greater audience with twitter, tumblr, instagram, etc. With the feeling that all your piers from school, work, etc. some of which you don't really know, and you want to give the impression that you're cool, smart, poetic, attractive, etc. With that feel like a lot of my piers aren't being very authentic on social media and are trying to act "cool" in front of everyone else. Then sometimes you'll get to meet some of these hip twitter kids and they turn out just like everyone else, socially awkward, full of quirks that seem to not be represented on social media, etc. Looking at the lyrics, it seems that Dustin Payseur is talking more about people selling themselves out in the music industry, and saying things or being people they aren't for the sake of getting big. Either way, the song translates to the idea of people being fake to give people the impression they're someone more interesting than who they actually are and it's very easy to do that in music and on the internet |

| Beach Fossils – Adversity Lyrics | 9 years ago |
|
Will you tear it down Will you decide We put up a fight for the other side We raise up our arms to show we're strong Then we break our bones, but we'll carry on Really Beautiful lyrics, and the harmony is enchanting during these first few lines of the song. These first few lines almost remind me of Romeo and Juliet and the idea of star-crossed love. it's devastating but the final line "we break our bones, but we'll carry on" shows some sort of optimism for feeling like you're on the side of love in a world cloaked in hate, greed, evil, etc. |

| DIIV – How Long Have You Known? Lyrics | 9 years ago |
| One time me and my friend were driving around listening to this song and he noted how the overall tone of the song was very cheeky and sappy. That made me think that the song is Zachary Cole Smith saying sarcastically "how long have you known?" as a response to the people in the world who feel like or act like they have it all figured out. It's really easy living day to day to get lost, upset, and depressed at how conflicting and confusing the world is and I think Zachary Cole Smith feels that too and is kinda giving the finger to the people who pretend they aren't scared by these feelings. | |
