Nina Simone – Wild Is The Wind Lyrics 4 years ago
The intense heartfelt “Say You Do”, I can just repeat that part over & over again. It will not lose its hold over me.

Two lovers known for their flighty ways like the wind. Let’s hold this moment as long as we can because our wind like ways are bound to blow us away from each other. Let me know at least once you were mine.

Cocteau Twins – Know Who You Are At Every Age Lyrics 9 years ago
Trauma can be surreal, to the put of in denial. Denying pain may seem strong yet it prohibits you to grow. If you want to conquer it, you have to face it.

Truly a song relatable to all

of Montreal – Dustin Hoffman Does Not Resist Temptation to Eat the Bathtub Lyrics 10 years ago
The most haunting part for me is "shook the receiver til a hint of your voice might fall out" so creative yet so wistful. I drew a photo of myself holding a phone and my ex boyfriend falling out of it. I surrounded that drawing with those lyrics. He never saw it I didn't keep it for long.

It's hard being in love with someone who can easily take you out of their life - A day is enough for you to ask me to leave - they just don't take much consideration.

Probably the most heartfelt song he has written in my opinion.

Beach House – Myth Lyrics 10 years ago
This song gives me chills! I immediately thought of an old romance of mine that lasted on and off for years.

The first stanza is the individual who is hurting confronting their lover. The person asks what can I do to fulfill your need? You tell me yet it's ambiguous - it's never as it seems.

When she sings "Help me to name it" the lover wants to make the other's myth of love or desires come true. That's why they in the first stanza he/she demands say just what you need.

The second stanza, the lovers knows the other has a concept of love they hold very sacred. A former romance comes to mind. How their parents relationship was perhaps. The individual shares possibly what it is they are desiring and they are intimate yet it goes back to square one.

Again the cry is help me to be that person or relationship you need.

Third stanza, The first two lines makes me believe they broke up and the individual with the myth gets depressed. The depression part because arrows from the sun sounds like you were flying towards the light "right path" yet you fell and caused destruction (creative writing). You broke that person's heart because they didn't meet your standard. Canyon calling would they come to greet let you know you are not the only one. They are feeling alone searching for answers. Calling out to canyons for they are stuck just like that individual.

Fourth stanza wahooo ultimate chill zone. That individual realizes my myth is unachievable that former relationship of where I built my love myth is dead and gone. Yet I know what to give I have an option to start over again with someone who is willing to love me hence again "Help me to name it"

My former romance and I loved each other greatly, but our perception of love clashed. Someone might say they love you but they could have a warped view of love. My myth or concept of love will materialize for I know what to give, he didn't know how to. You can't keep hanging on to what's dead and gone just that phrase (forgetting the rest of what the songs says) reminds me of how our relationship died so early in the beginning yet how I hung on to the former myth of love.

Beach House – Wedding Bell Lyrics 10 years ago
This couple obviously has been together and perhaps lived together for quite some time. They get married and one of them realizes it was just because of comfort and complacency. The marriage is repetitive lacking zeal hence swimming the seas we know so well. The person has this revelation yet stays because of possibly not wanting to lose the comfort or hurting the individual - Is your heart still mine to save?

Beach House – PPP Lyrics 10 years ago
This song and astronaut again give me the notion that the subject is of a person in the military. There are several hints in the song that fit perfectly to that notion.

"Are you ready, ready for this life?" Majority consensus is military life can be a rude awakening.

"Between the cities, between the thrills" Living in a military town, many military personnel travel and are known for their off time of partying.

"It won't last forever or maybe it will. The white clothes they gave you, you wear them so well." Maybe this person will stay in as long as there enlistment states or prolong it and make it a career. Whites are a name of one of the Navy's uniforms.

Giving the analogy of skating on ice making infinite signs, states that I'll keep the course of love but I chose to be on a dangerous surface. I know this person is leaving yet they could potentially die, cheat (which unfortunately the Navy has a terrible record of that). Yet that's not going to stop her from love and if it all goes to hell she will own up to it.

Beach House – Astronaut Lyrics 10 years ago
I can't help but believe this song is directed to a person coming home from war/deployment. She metaphorically describes an astronaut to a soldier. Both subjects departing to a foreign place, for long periods of time. Comparing soldiers to astronauts gives it a dreamy, wistful longing. Basically saying you are somewhere so far out of reach yet I hold onto your heart for when you come back I'll be here.

"I'll be brave for a while" it's a life threatening career but I love you and I will wait for you. Its such a romantic song, I just melt.
