Dustin Hoffman Does Not Resist Temptation to Eat the Bathtub Lyrics
Let out a final gasp of hope
Into a darling gay world
There it goes
Doubt it if they'll even know
I'm gone
The recipe of words on how to be welcome
To a heart
Dodge the bombs each time
And you blink
You don't notice
Tiny stars falling on your land
Well, I'm so beclouded
In your room
This can't be real
I could count a hundred times
That I've followed your ghost into bed
Or shook the reciever so
A hint of your voice might fall out
After 21 years of waiting for this
I come to find that
A day is enough for you
To ask me to leave
You don't notice tiny stars
Falling on your land
Well, I'm so beclouded
In your room
Whispering, "This can't be real"
Unless you lied
Let out a final gasp of hope
Into a darling gay world
There it goes
Doubt it if they'll even know
I'm gone
You don't notice tiny stars
Falling on your land
Well, I'm so beclouded
In your room
Whispering, "This can't be real"
Into a darling gay world
There it goes
Doubt it if they'll even know
I'm gone
To a heart
Dodge the bombs each time
And you blink
Tiny stars falling on your land
Well, I'm so beclouded
In your room
This can't be real
That I've followed your ghost into bed
Or shook the reciever so
A hint of your voice might fall out
After 21 years of waiting for this
I come to find that
A day is enough for you
To ask me to leave
Falling on your land
Well, I'm so beclouded
In your room
Whispering, "This can't be real"
Into a darling gay world
There it goes
Doubt it if they'll even know
I'm gone
Falling on your land
Well, I'm so beclouded
In your room
Whispering, "This can't be real"

"Unless you lied" that gets me everytime. the realization that someone you care so much about could hurt you so badly. a wonderful, subtle breakup song. 'whispering this can't be real"
i've had this song on repeat for the last week. staroftrackandfield is right... obviously about someone breaking up with the narrator. kevin's ability to write a song that truly encompasses a specific emotion never ceases to amaze me. i love and hate being able to relate to this song.
The most haunting part for me is "shook the receiver til a hint of your voice might fall out" so creative yet so wistful. I drew a photo of myself holding a phone and my ex boyfriend falling out of it. I surrounded that drawing with those lyrics. He never saw it I didn't keep it for long.
It's hard being in love with someone who can easily take you out of their life - A day is enough for you to ask me to leave - they just don't take much consideration.
Probably the most heartfelt song he has written in my opinion.
I'm pretty sure I got most of the lyrics right, and the E6 Townhall people kind of proofreaded it for me so it should be pretty much right.
For those of you who downloaded the pre-Cherry Peel songs, this is the final version of "Garden Gate World". The song is actually called "Let Out a Final Gasp of Hope" though, so the "Garden Gate World" thing was just someone else's interpretation of the lyrics, when most of us at the Townhall think it's actually "darling gay world".
