| Starsailor – Poor Misguided Fool Lyrics | 8 years ago |
|
Real friendship and human connection supports, does not impose. Lyrics feel like they are a form of dialogue between oneself and another being who is trying to be a friend, but at the end of the day another person cannot be our own home and certainly cannot dictate what one should do for himself. A line for you and a line for me as in it's our birthright to live our lives as we want. When you give in to opinions of others, no matter their intentions, you only lose what matters most, yourself. |

| Simon and Garfunkel – The Sound of Silence Lyrics | 10 years ago |

While this song clearly describes how commercialism and lack of useful communication brought us in the brink of emptiness, depression you might call it, the last verse is the most interesting one. The theme is laid as the hero reaching out for help in the form of connection with others, only to realize that piece with inner self is found in silence, just as the prophets have said. It's no coincidence that their words are found in silent places like subways and tenement halls. We need to go there, clear ourselves of noise, in order to hear our inner voice and find salvation. |

| Paul Simon – 50 Ways To Leave Your Lover Lyrics | 10 years ago |
|
It's all about attachment. The guy is attached to his relationship and general situation so he ignores his inner voice for freedom. The woman senses that so she is helping him to realize his own wishes. It might be his lover or his mistress persuading him to leave his wife, but this applies to many situations. On a deeper level he is the heart and she is the mind which wants to always be free, thus creating a separation in one's self, but in reality it's just a simple choice of what you really want to do. And there are plenty of ways to do it. |
