| Solution .45 – Clandestinity Now Lyrics | 13 days ago |

This song is about someone that has faced some great trauma - perhaps the death of a loved one, or just something that made him change his whole view of the world. Other commenters have talked about religion, the promise of a life after death, which is compatible with my interpretation. He talks about the past as a nightmare, as if his vision was completely blinded by his mind. The lyrics suggest that "the union of reason and faith undying" was keeping him in this state, which means he was trying to logically justify some sort of false belief he had, but not anymore. After getting past all of this he retreats from the world, some sort of spiritual retirement, but he will be the one to decide what to believe in instead. Hence the title of the song, Clandestinity Now. "What I have found is what defines me" , "Here I'll be holding on to something" - those parts pretty much sum up the song meaning. No matter how wrong and bad you feel about you and your past, the thing that matters is what you're going to do from now on. Having to build your whole world from the start isn't easy but you'll be holding on to something, anything, as long as it's yours. |

| @[Crispoz:16046] "ik", "eech", "ich", it seems something like that. I'm not sure about the last letter but I'm pretty sure that it follows an "ee" sound. | |

| After listening this song so many times I noticed that there is a really weak voice that says something after "for I burn and I shudder, burn with each moment of". After "Of", there's that weak voice if you listen carefully. It would also complete the sentence, I wonder what it may be. I tried to understand that part, it seems like it's somethings that ends with "ik", or similiars ("eek", ecc.). | |

| @[utj90:16045] I don't think it speaks about alcohol specifically. It speaks about something, or someone, that has this effect on the author. That makes him forget the life that he hates. It could be anything, I think it's more like a love song from a very pessimistic guy (like Mikael), but everyone can have a different interpretation of the lyrics. Cryptic lyrics are also beatiful thanks to different interpretations, so the drinking one is also possible, and a really good one | |
| Dark Tranquillity – The Mundane and the Magic Lyrics | 9 years ago |

In my opinion, this song is about pessimism (and nihilism to a certain extention), or fear to live, paranoia, and how the protagonist is forced to do that to not suffer. The growled parts are pessimistic, while chorus is optimistic. "Seen through these dreamless eyes Blind buildings stark to the sky Silhouettes as dividing walls Guarding the eternal secret" Life has no apparent sense, the Silhouettes are human bodies that divide the physical reality from what is inside us, the eternal secret, our heart and feelings. The actual meaning of life. "Where is the flame to haunt you Who do you answer to" It's a question: "For what are you living? What's your purpose?" "My lies are always wishes Lies that make me See beyond the rationale Accept the fate that nothing is meant to be Be the least connected Stay true to the last original" Here, he admits the fact that he denies life because he actually wants to have a good life. With lies, he can see beyond the rational and accept the fate that nothing is meant to be. This is a paradox, and lies make him think this because it's beyond the rational. "Be the least connected, stay true to the last original" it's being alone. "Apply layers to reality Things only you can see Add a beat to normality To tap the core of insanity" Trying to explain and classify things in life is not really useful. The "layers" that you're applying are things that only you can see, because they're not universal. They're subjective. "Add a beat to normality to tap the core of insanity" means that trying to find a reason ("beat" is the heartbeat I guess) leads you to insanity. "I let my dreams cross over To days of endless gray If I could merge the mundane and the magic We'd forge a new unknown I let my dreams cross over To nothingness and back again If I could merge the mundane and the magic Where is the dark I came to find" The Chorus. In this part he tries to try to break his paranoia and to merge the mundane (the world and how he sees it) and the magic (his desires), to forge the new unknown (he doesn't know what happens if he actually tries this and succeed). "If I could merge the mundane and the magic, where is the dark I came to find?" is literally "if I can go beyond my paranoia and actually grant my wishes, then there won't be darkness". "In latter days as time will find you Memories will never let you get closer The silent sighs in useless company Wish for darkness and death again In the face of ignorance and fear I cast it right back Some things were never there to begin with Objectivity is truth denied" Apparently, that didn't work. "In latter days" means that this happens after he tried to make his wish happen. "Memories will never let you get closer" means exactly that: you have to go on. "The silent sighs in useless company, wish for darkness and death again" means that it doesn't matter if he has company, be it friends or family, it's useless because his wish aren't granted. Probably, it's about a special person, and he cares only for that person and he doesn't want any company but that person. Since he's not with her, then he wishes for darkness and death, again. "In the face of ignorance and fear, I cast it right back" means that he fears life and doesn't know how to live, so he casts life away. It's something like Nihilism in my opinion, to a certain extent. "Some things were never there to begin with" shows that he has deceived himself, and the situation comes back to how it started. Then, there's the pre-chorus and the chorus, which suggests that even if things go badly, someday you will find a reason to try to break that negativity even if you don't know what will happen. |

| Dark Tranquillity – Lethe Lyrics | 9 years ago |

This song is obviously based on Lethe, a mythological river from the Greek/Roman mythology located in Hades. If anyone drinks its waters, he/she will forget everything of their (past) life. The song talks about the artist that hates life (you are the life that I hate, take me away from the life that I hate) and apparently has no reason to continue his life of pain. This is until he meets a special person, his beloved one, which is his "Lethe". She makes him forget everything of the life that he hates: the central part of the song describes the process of Lethe that kills and revives him. "In currents of Cobalt you storm through my heart": the current of Cobalt is the stream of water flowing because she's his Lethe. After dying another time ("to kill me again" means that he "died" previously because life was worthless for him), he appears renewed and reforged, empty and strong, because she made him forget what life did to him and he's strong because of her. |

| Mercenary – Redefine Me Lyrics | 10 years ago |

As soon as I first readed the lyrics I realized I can totally relate to this song in this period of my life. I'll try to explain my interpretation of the song step by step: basically, it talks about this guy that cares a lot about a girl. He gave everything for her, and he feels deceived because everything he did wasn't enough. 1° Verse: "Feel This illusive dream that's Growing Flowing into view Take thise immense Participation Is it really you?" In this part of the verse, he says that he always dreamt to be with her but he starts to realize that this dream could be deceiving him. "Fall back My secret window Feel free To let me lose My mind My mind" Now he's sure he has deceived himself, he realizes the situation and wants to hide himself in his "little secret corner". He just cannot think about anything but her ("Feel free to let me lose my mind" is a desperate pray) "Twisting I feel abandoned Look back To set me free To purify To purify" He feels abandoned and he wants to forget all this story and be free of this pain. Chorus: "It makes me want to scream To fall out of this dream It makes me want to find the things I thought you wanted It makes you want to try To leave it all behind The time that still remains I'll use to redefine me Find me..." He immediately regrets what it thought at the end of the first verse: he's desperate, he just wants to leave his dreams and give her the things that he thought she wanted; altough, for some reason (maybe she fears something or she's insecure), she wants to flee. He then says that wants to use the remaining time to change himself and see if it will work. 2° Verse: "Now All that's left with me This feeling Am I all alone? Stretching I cannot see you Clearly Am I losing you?" The situation aggravates, he feels lonely because he's not even dreaming anymore. It's just reality and he's realizing that he's losing her. "To speak I'll try to save you Feel free to let me find My innerline My innerline" Altough, he doesn't want to surrender, he wants to save what remains of them and to find his very soul and innerline. "Have you simply Lost the answer Will you take the hand I give? To redefine To redefine" Even if he doesn't surrender, it seems that everything he tries to do is not corresponded by her. He doesn't know why because she doesn't want to answer his question. "..This illusive cry I AM Your secret window I AM All that's left with you I AM Redefinition I am losing you Fading in You're fading out" "I'll redefine my dreams In the hours that remain I'll try to understand To redefine myself" He always had doubts about what he did for her: he asked himself if the things he did were right or bad, and now he finally realizes that everything he did was actually right. He just knows she's doing this but he doesn't know why, and he wants help because he's willing to redefine himself just for her. Because of this, he's desperate since it really seems he's losing her. But even if everything he did was right, it might be that it wasn't what she really wanted, and this could be linked to the chorus ("it makes me to find the things I THOUGHT you wanted"). Eventually, he changes his dreams in order to give her what she actually wants. He will try to understand her reasons and redefine himself once again. Sorry for my bad english, it's not my native language and I can't manage to explain things well.. I can relate to this song because I'm literally in the same situation. I'm giving everything for her but there's always something going wrong. I just want to know what.. Just like this guy from the song. |

| Bullet for My Valentine – Road To Nowhere Lyrics | 10 years ago |

This song talks about this guy that loves her ex girlfriend but they cannot find a way to stay together. They broke up several times before, and it never worked.. As the song title says, it's a Road to Nowhere, because even if they try to take this road, it leads to nothing but pain. Of course, at this moment, the best thing to do would be to move on but he just can't get through her, because his love for her keeps growing and growing, as said in the lyrics (heat keeps on rising, fire engulfs me again, keeps on rising). My favorite phrase from the song is with no doubts "Dreams are my saviors, save me now, 'cause I know I'm falling"; I can absolutely relate to this song, expecially with this phrase.. |

| All That Remains – Criticism and Self Realization Lyrics | 10 years ago |

I think this song is a sort of indirect dialogue between a ruler that failed to do his work properly and the angry people. The angry people speak during the verses, talking about the lies behind the failure and their ideals, while the ruler recognizes his faults and asks himself if he's sure of what to do now, as stated in the chorus. Imo, this is what the song is SPECIFICALLY about. The song can also be interpretated in a different, more generic way, and I like this enterpretation more because it can be applied to a lot more situations of life. If you make a mistake, you probably won't be forgiven, even if you recognize your mistakes and want to repair what you broke. This isn't either good or bad, it's just how the world goes, because the same thing could be applied to the others that were directly hit by the mistake you made. It's something related to pride, imo, and it reminds me the first verse of "Take this Life" from In Flames: "It's not so much the pain, it's more the actual knife"; it doesn't matter if you didn't want to do something or if you regret it, you still did it and there's nothing that will change that. Sure, you can still try to fix what you did, but the wound won't disappear. But this song also shows off the hypocrisy of the people: "don't care where you're from, just where you go" is my favorite phrase from the song and it literally says that it doesn't matter what you did, it matters if you do something good to fix it. It's totally the contrary of what people think if someone else makes a mistake. |
