To me it sounds like he's looking for a new beginning and he'll do anything to get to that new beginning. The book thing can be turned from literal to metaphorical. He's literally stuck in a book where the bad guy just friggin wins and he's too sad to push on into the rest of the book because it's so hard to deal with that the good guy we all root for has tried hard and still the villain got his way. Metaphorically he can be the guy in the book who was topped by the villain and he's too sad to continue trying so hard. But he decides he's going to push through and get to his part where life gets better for him and triumphs whatever is bad in his life. |

Wow.... this sounds really really sad... The narration of the song believes they're set aside from the others in a negative way and that they're in hell and even though someone may try to say something positive, they say it won't help them at all. As for the devils been talkin' part... I wonder if it's like the devil whispering in your ear and making you believe terrible things, true or not. |

@[his7angel:974] I totally agree about this sounding like the singer is begging the person to not kill themselves because of depression. mostly because of these lines Don't let the night become the day Don't take the darkness to the grave I know pain is just a place The will has been broken Don't let the fear become the hate Don't take the sadness to the grave I know the fight is on the way When the sides have been chosen It's easily pointing to depression or at least sadness and wanting to give, and to not let it get the best of you! |
