Ellie Goulding – Love Me Like You Do Lyrics 29 days ago
I am in something that makes this song really resonate with me. I

t's a woman who is madly falling in love with a man she never expected, but he is not in the same place as she is. He is falling in love too, though, and he's very scared of the thing he's avoided for so long. He is doing a lot of things a man in love would do, but he has always been emotionally unavailable, and all of this is new to him, so he is very cautious. She is letting him "set the pace" on how fast they go because if it were up to her, they'd be together. It really is just like in the movie.

Evanescence – Bring Me To Life Lyrics 1 month ago
For me, this about a woman who has been "asleep" her whole life, then a man comes along and awakens her soul. He takes her body and soul to places she has never been. She never knew places like this existed. He saved her. Until him, her soul was basically dead. At the end, it says "I've been living a lie. There's nothing inside." This says to me that he sacrificed everything in his own soul to awaken hers. This can be interpreted in a more religious/spiritual context as well, but for me, having experienced this very thing, it's a very deep, unbelievable feeling to find a person who completely awakens you from that kind of sleep. It literally changes everything.

Michael Bolton – How Am I Supposed to Live Without You? Lyrics 2 years ago
While this song is sung beautifully, what I hear is a guy who is friends with a woman who he is in love with but she is not in love with him and wants to just be friends. He stays friends with her in hopes that she will change her mind. This, in my opinion, is cruel to do to someone. Someone thinking you're their friend but in the end, you only were because they were hoping you'd want more. If he loves her like that, tell her and let her decide. Otherwise, don't do that to someone.

Chris De Burgh – The Lady in Red Lyrics 2 years ago
Often, after some time together, we tend to take our partner for granted. We no longer see the beauty that made us fall in love in the first place. This song makes me think of that. A man who sees his wife in a new light and realizes that he has forgotten how amazing and beautiful she is. He said he's never seen her look so amazing. That is because he's forgotten and is seeing her again as if for the first time. "I hardly know this beauty by my side" because they gave grown apart and are pretty much strangers at this point. All the things he's noticing are not new. He just wasn't paying attention before now. I think this is a beautiful song and while the true meaning may be something different, that is how I hear it.

Eagles – New Kid In Town Lyrics 2 years ago
This song can mean a couple things. In music, which is what the Hotel California album is about, it can mean that you're the newest hot thing in town and then someone comes along and replaces you. You're still around but you're no longer the hottest thing. This is the downfall to music. A person/band is only really hot for a while until the next best thing comes. It can also mean in love where the new kid is "the hottest thing in town" and maybe he got THAT girl and they were the "It Couple" until he begins to just a face in the crowd now and he begins looking around for someone else. This song reminds me of my relationship with my boyfriend, who is a musician. He was the "new kid in town" and all the bands around our area wanted him to play with them. He was the hot new player in town. Now he is still being asked to play with people, but not like he was. He is just another face here in town now.

Before I knew the real meaning, I indeed thought it was able drug addiction, which can definitely be an interpretation that works. Once I found out the real meaning as it was written, that also made sense. When I visited L.A. myself, it made perfect sense. I wasn't there to make it big but just for a visit and those trips have never left me. For me, it really is the city you can check into but you can never leave. It left an imprint on me. But as it was written, it's about the fact that those who went there in the 60's and 70's pretty much sold their souls to become famous.

Frankie Goes to Hollywood – Relax Lyrics 3 years ago
And to think how much I loved this song in the 80's when I was just a little kid. The beat was so much fun. I had no idea what it meant! No clue that it was about sex (which I knew nothing about yet). As an adult, I still love the song.

Journey – After The Fall Lyrics 4 years ago
I would say the meaning is pretty clear on this song. He took his wife/girlfriend for granted. She did all she could and held on by loving him more than she received from him and he didn't see any of it until it was too late. After the fall of the relationship, he realized how much he loved her and how he should have told her and shown her. He always knew but his actions didn't show her. And now it's too late. She's gone. He is falling and his heartache is about the guilt of how he could have changed everything had he just said something.

Stone Sour – Threadbare Lyrics 4 years ago
This song was about his 2nd wife Stephanie Luby. Taylor explained to Kerrang!: "This is about the strongest kind of love, the love that comes in the face of tragedy and annihilation. It's about the love that keeps everything together through all that." Unfortunately, they did end up divorcing.

A little research said Threadbare is about his second wife, Stephanie Luby. I think that Snuff may have been about Scarlett because per an interview, "This is the slow one. It's another personal one. Again, not naming names, it's about someone who helped me through a lot and I thought she felt the same way that I did and then she really let me down. At the same time, it was good that she did, because it was that final push to me figuring out myself. The lyrics are pretty self-explanatory." He has said that she helped him through his suicidal thoughts.

According to a source online "This song is about front man Corey Taylor's love for his second wife Stephanie Luby. Good thing Corey and Stephanie are not superstitious as they tied the knot on Friday, November 13, 2009!" (Update: They divorced in/around 2017)

Toto – Hold The Line Lyrics 6 years ago
To edit my previous comment: "Love isn't always on time" can be very true. A year ago, this man was in love with me and I wasn't there yet. Fast forward a year and with time, I did eventually catch up. Not without some ups and downs with my feelings. He recently moved in with me and I am very much in love with him. It was just on MY time and not his. Often times, love doesn't happen for both people at the exact same time but it can happen with time. I needed him to "Hold the line" and he did. It doesn't always end badly. Sometimes, there is a happy ending.

Tesla – Love Song Lyrics 6 years ago
First, I wanted to say the opening acoustic to this song is my favorite part. But the song it pretty easy to interpret really. A woman has had her heart broken and friend is telling her she will find love again. She is surrounded by love and when she is ready, she will find it again once she opens her heart back up.

@[JayCeezy:27771] Perfect! This is my current situation. I have a man who is all but in love with me. I am not there. I think he's amazing. He's wonderful. And "it all looks great on paper" but my heart isn't there. I am not in love with him and don't feel I am even close to it. And yes, I have been on the other side. In love with him and on paper, we did look great. But he wasn't in love with me the same way.

Roxette – Fading Like a Flower (Every Time You Leave) Lyrics 7 years ago
I am listening to this song as it applies to my own life. Most can agree that it's about a break-up but it's that aftermath. When you have distance, you're ok. You have run away from it all. You have tried to develop a harder heart. You work to see the world without them. But then you run into them. Maybe you have the same friends, same social circle so you keep seeing them therefore not allowing yourself to heal. You once bloomed with them and now your "bloom" is fading. You are dying inside just like that rose that once bloomed with them.

@[dakota1669:25906] I can see that. Definiately! To take it further, having dated an Iraq vet with PTSD, he was looking for someone to save him from himself. Thinking love could save him. (It can't really.) When this song was written was called Battle Fatigue I think.

This is my own interpretation as it applies to my life right. Backstory: The person I love is going through a very personal trial and over this last weekend, we sat in his apartment together for 30 hours straight. Just the two of us. No outside world. The Rita Coolidge version came out when I was 3 and I probably haven't heard it in close to 40 years that I can recall but I was listening to a station on my phone that I listen to a lot and the song came on. I didn't immediately recognize it but something told me to listen and then I remembered it from my childhood and found it very odd that it came on during this time in my life.

That all being said, my interpretation is this:

The rain is the outside world. It can be harsh, cold, gloomy, and depressing. So in this moment, two people close the windows to the outside world. They sit there, together, just the two of them with all of their honesty. All of the good and the bad. They hold each other. This is their safe place. The outside world is outside those walls but while they are in those.

That is my interpretation as it fits my life right now. How amazing that a song more than 40 years old can fit my life as an adult. Music is timeless!

In This Moment – Into The Light Lyrics 11 years ago
I read about the inspiration in Revolver Magazine, I think it was. I know it was multi-leveled, including the death of a pet. We played this at my best friends service and I am also playing it now for my cat who just passed today. It can go for anyone who's lost someone they've truly loved. Beautifully written song.
