Threadbare Lyrics

Hold your breath and say goodbye
You never say a word
When you feel like your heart's gone wrong
When you feel like you've stayed too long

It's over...

Letting go has let you down
Just let me show you why
Every life is a chance to try,
We can live like we both can't die

Oh, in all this time,
I never wanted to destroy a dream come true
And in all this time,
I never wanted to destroy someone like you
I want you to stay, so give me a sign
Give me your hand, I'll take you home

In the dark, we're all the same
We only seem alone
There's a place where we all must hide,
There's a place that we lock from the inside

When it's over...

Everything we ever were
And everything we are
We will heal as the days roll by
'Cause in the end it's you and I

Oh, in all this time,
I never wanted to destroy a dream come true
And in all this time,
I never wanted to destroy someone like you
I want you to stay, so give me a sign
Give me your hand, I'll take you home

We are sewn inside the fabric that is holding us together
We can only pray that something so tragic will save us all
Will save us all, we are on our own again
We are on our own again

Oh, in all this time,
I never wanted to destroy a dream come true
And all this time,
I never wanted to destroy someone like you
I want you to stay, so give me a sign
Give me your hand, I'll take you home

For me...

This song represents losing that "one" losing that "dream come true", and smashing it and destroying that dream person so badly you will never get them back.

As for Corey's perspective...possibly Scarlett. I'm sure he will be asked in an interview.

The majority of the album is very "partner/lost partner" driven I think.

Cheers, Effektd.

Corey: "This is about the strongest kind of love, the love that comes in the face of tragedy and annihilation. It's about the love that keeps everything together through all that."

A little research said Threadbare is about his second wife, Stephanie Luby. I think that Snuff may have been about Scarlett because per an interview, "This is the slow one. It's another personal one. Again, not naming names, it's about someone who helped me through a lot and I thought she felt the same way that I did and then she really let me down. At the same time, it was good that she did, because it was that final push to me figuring out myself. The lyrics are pretty self-explanatory." He has said that she helped him...

I don't mean to be picky but it's "I never wanted to destory a dream come true" not "I never wanted to destroy your dream come true"

wouldn't surprise me if this song was about Slipknot's bassist and Corey's good friend Paul Gray. The album in which the song came from, Audio Secrecy, was dedicated to Paul Gray after his death. there are YouTube videos out there where Corey explains each song on the album, but he doesn't elaborate specifically who this song was about, just that it was about someone who he was very close to. not entirely sure, but that would be my guess.

According to a source online "This song is about front man Corey Taylor's love for his second wife Stephanie Luby. Good thing Corey and Stephanie are not superstitious as they tied the knot on Friday, November 13, 2009!" (Update: They divorced in/around 2017)

This song was about his 2nd wife Stephanie Luby. Taylor explained to Kerrang!: "This is about the strongest kind of love, the love that comes in the face of tragedy and annihilation. It's about the love that keeps everything together through all that." Unfortunately, they did end up divorcing.
