I think the swan is a constant character in Mr. H's work, as the owl. Maybe it's the same swan from Swanheart and all of the other songs which mention a swan-hearted person. Maybe he is indeed talking about his love experiences in the past with the 4 birds, or not just love experiences, but key relationships for his development as in who he is nowadays. The swan was someone who could gave something but refused or wasn't able to share it with him, in contrast with the other birds, who did shared or were willing to share with him what they had, but he turned out. |

"Cannot cry it loud enough, I'm giving up this ghost" - There's no use in lamenting, I surrender, I'm just done with this. "How can I still justify when you deny my voice" - How could I even try to defend myself against what you're accusing me of if you just keep on denying anything I could say? I cannot justify my actions because you won't accept any justifications from me. "In this nothing I'm not allowed, I just follow alone" - It seems I'm not welcome here anymore, this place has become hostile towards me (that's why she calls it "nothing", because it just makes her feel empty and sad), so I'll just go. "Words as weapons without a sound, echoes dying unborn." - Your hostile words came unexpected (thrown as weapons without sound), and you don't allow a reply to your words (not even echo was made, it died without even being born) "Until my last breath, you'll never know until you feel the silence when I am gone." - You won't understand what you're loosing by pushing me away until I'm finally gone and you would have to face loneliness and all that will come with that. "Now it's vanishing everything what we might have been"- Now, anything we could have done together (build a life together, marry, etc.) won't happen. All the possibilities of that happening are just gone forevermore. No future for you and me. "Only now your prays call my name, but you won't see again" - Even if you beg, sorry, that ship has sailed. Not going back. Now you may be lamenting, but still, nope. "Who can change this memory? Inside it needs to burn"- Things happened, we can't change what we both did, it needs time to "burn" and turn into ashes so we can overcome it. "Worship by the enemy the guilty take their turns" - You may have been misguided to do what you did to me, but you'll regret listening to them (I guess...) "Watching as it's disappearing, shadows all that remain" - What we were it's gone, just memories stay (the traces of what we were.) "Wishes slowly crossing over in this parade of pain" - My yearnings, my desires just fade, they vanish as what we were. They get lost in this troubled situation.to die and never be fulfilled. |

I agree with everything but: "Now its vanishing, everything, what we might have been" - "Now anything we could have done together (build a life together, marry, etc.) won't happen, all the possibilities of that happening are just gone forevermore. So, there's no future. |

I don't get this paragraph, maybe because of the lack of proper punctuation: Overwhelming love Heaven's just a feeling Singing in my blood Keeping me from kneeling Can someone explain it to me? |

I think the lyrics for this one were one of the most poetic works Tarja did on My Winter Storm. I would like to understand better this sentence "Why is it called Elysian Fields when love builds only grief". What would be the metaphor behind that? And the metaphor behind all the legends and heroes theme on this song would be related to the "elysian fields" metaphor? I don't know much about Greek mythology, so I'm curious... |
