| The Killers – Just Another Girl Lyrics | 12 years ago |

To understand the meaning of the song, you have to look at the songwriter's perspective. Brandon Flowers is an attractive, famous, and extremely successful artist in Las Vegas. However, unlike most people in his profession, he is a married man, and a family man. Many people in his position live a "rolling stone" type of lifestyle. It is typical for them to have a easy time sleeping around with very attractive women quite regularly, and just generally living a very pleasurable lifestyle with all that money and fame can get them. His friends are rather perplexed by his loyalty to one woman, and they frequently remind him of this, saying that he could "be reeling them in left and right," and sometimes he even questions whether it is worth all the effort. Flowers lets his friends know that he doesn't want another girl, there is only one gal for him. And even when he travels, he misses her, because she has become part of who he is. He can't simply move on, it would tear his life apart. The music video is also quite symbolic. It shows actress Dianna Agron walking around as if she were Brandon Flowers, moving her lips with his voice coming out. The scenes she walks through in the video symbolize the history of the band, and she is a symbol for his wife (they even made her look like his wife the best they could). His wife is in the place of him in the video as if to say "she has been with me through this whole thing, leaving her wouldn't even be possible: she is part of who I am." So, frankly, I have to disagree with the last comment. I believe this song is a deep expression of loyalty from a man to his wife. I think it is also a message to the world that lasting relationships and family are a wonderful thing, even if many in popular culture say otherwise. http://mormon.org/me/5233 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Just_Another_Girl_(The_Killers_song) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3BwzP1laWkQ |
