| Arcade Fire – Reflektor Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
Arcade Fire is a great band, but this song seems forced, and is definently the most suspect song on the album ironically entitled "Reflektor" And I feel thsi could be because of David Bowie, bringing in someone else into your artist rendering would never work... this proves it. Do you think the Mona Lisa was handed off to a three year old to finish the shadows on the face.. uh no. I may have been more on board with this if David Bowie was not included, I can feel the friction in the song. No offence to David Bowie what he does is also good just different and the thought of him with Arcade Fire disturbs me a little, yeah didn't he dress up in a white wedding gown for an over-pompous music video... |

| Arcade Fire – Here Comes the Night Time II Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
This is simply about not stepping outside of your own self constructed boundaries, wanting to do more... but just hanging out with friends. And then not being happy at the end of the day about being complacent, and not stepping out into the world unsheltered and free to explore at will. Some think the ones who are by themselves are the saddest and have no experiences. The truth is that there are those, but there is also a sub-set that are not limited by anything since they can go seek what they want without following any social norms. The protaganist says basically if I could free myself from my "friends" and you could free yourself from your "friends" the possibility is that we could meet and explore our own world together. Love Arcade Fire, quintessential music for the "seeker" |

| Arcade Fire – Normal Person Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
This song suggest that you are not perceived as normal until people really understand you, and then they have figured you out and you are boring, hence normal. The ending talks about how if you cannot be figured out, then maybe you can help us understand what you know. Then the protaganist swings it back the other way saying I have never ever met a normal person like you... Suggesting that in reality that since you are strange I consider that normal and I can identify you, and the rest of them are the normal ones. It could be thought of as finding a person one can identify with, the one that thinks just as you no matter what the "normal" is perceived as by "all the others". It is important to note that the protaganist calls "them" the others. Ending with a proper greeting in acceptance, hence wanting to start a relationship. |

| Arcade Fire – Flashbulb Eyes Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
I think this goes very deep, if the camera takes your soul then we basically live in a soulless time. And if you believe this then we are all without a soul so go ahead and take a look, there is nothing in here that is hiding. The interesting part is the proverbial "what if" statement that opens up a whole different genre of thoughts going the opposite way. Take a look into my eyes, the window to my soul, and see what you may find. From this point of view the "Oh no" is laughter in my mind. The best songs are the ones that pose the question's of dualism. |

| Arcade Fire – We Exist Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
I feel the song is just about being self aware that you are different from everyone else within a given environment. What makes this a magical insight is the fact it is a group that is connected and can see what the others see, and are bonded together single minded. I also get a "Children of the Corn" feel for the parts where you understand how close and in-sync this group must be within themselves, and how this group must feel about how some people view them. It must be weird to sing this song live while staring out at the crowd... Very interesting and intellectually challenging |

| Slipknot – Snuff Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
The Slipknot song!!! I think the protagonist may have been in love with a person, but when she left what he really was in love with was the feeling of love and not so much the actual person. The meaning I get from this is you never should show up again, but if I could just have that feeling back and place it with someone else, almost as if the person he was with was the right feelings just the wrong person. In essence letting himself go for a sake of another, and all I get is this, you turn your back, so be it, but I want back what I cannot have. I know that is how I feel, if only I could have back the actual first emotional enjoyments and spend them on someone worth my while. |

| Beck – Broken Drum Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
This is one of my all time fav's... before I go any further... I want to make that clear I do not see this song as depressing/sad in any way. I see it more as a memorial of a relationship in which yes there may have been deterioration, but it is not the focus. When you know someone so well and you are willing to accept them for who they are you must take the good with the bad and enjoy the moments, as obviously it does not last forever. This song is timeless |

| Arcade Fire – Supersymmetry Lyrics | 12 years ago |

Reading books, better then memories This lyric ties the whole song together on how he is feeling. He needs time but does not want to reflect all that deeply on his memories of the relationship, but rather occupy his mind with others thoughts then his own while he recovers in his own way. |

| The National – Pink Rabbits Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
What I get from this song is the guy in a relationship is reflecting back on an ex, who was throwing allot of desperation signals, before finally walking away. Now the guy is trying to fit al the pieces together of where it all went wrong and has some key areas he is focusing on. The guy knows he has made a mistake and realizes it during a casual city encounter with friends and has to step out onto the street and replay it all from her perspective. At first the guy realizes someone told him, since he could not see it at the time, that she is gone. This was an observation made outside of his relationship and someone gently told him the facts. The guy is curious now to know if he is ever thought of by her in moments of life reflections at home safe and comfortable from the confusion of the outside world. The guy has simply reconciled that they have met in their minds and have both forgave each other, without really ever seeing nor talking about the past relationship. He had to fight in his mind to come to terms with this expression which helps him cope with the situation. She is talking to him in his mind letting him know he missed all the subtle cues she was giving out. He does not want to be haunted by these thoughts, so he only thinks about her in a positive light since it is detrimental to take it the dark side opposite the light. The pain in some respects will always be present it is a simple case of losing something and wanting it back. One of my fav's of all time... |

| Arcade Fire – Half Light I Lyrics | 12 years ago |

This song has a strong visual setting in my mind. This song sync's so well with the movie Inception when Leonardo and his wife are within the dream state in the crumbling building. It is hard to not draw so many similarities between this song and the movie Inception. |

| Arcade Fire – Awful Sound (Oh Eurydice) Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
Arcade Fire has changed the way I view music in general since finding them. Awful sound is my initial favorite, with saying that most grow to my favorite and then within about a year I will settle on a album favorite, the only band that has this musical prowess over my mind. Contextually the most simplistic but layered music ever made. The song is a love song, anything but plain or simple. |
