Dance Gavin Dance – Doom & Gloom Lyrics 11 years ago
Ok, Am I the only one who's noticed that 2.38 - 3.35 is the exact same (ooooh) vocal melody on the exact same chord sequence as Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Can't Stop?
It's just in a different key ;)

Periphery – Have a Blast Lyrics 12 years ago
Seems to be about being stuck in a mundane day job, a slave to the system, not realising that life is about more than being a just a puppet to a corporate entity/government/etc.

"Behold our creation; a walking dead" - everyone just zombies, they cannot think, reason or question why they continue on in this meaningless infinite cycle of work for the capitalist system which is fundamentally flawed to begin with.

"Realize what you are fed. Escape the mortal mentality.
It's a lesson that can't be ignored for long. My
Destination lies within the song" - But the narrator realises and wishes to escape, to have a purpose more unique, a destiny of art and creation rather than simply being a corporate slave

"Blistering reality. Imagining a world in limelight" - In this case being in a band, Periphery. However it could apply to any number of things.

A very inspirational song which I can definitely relate to :)

Broadway – Same Thing We Do Everyday Pinky Lyrics 12 years ago
Well before I start, I'd point out that this has the exact same music as their previous song "He may be your boyfriend but you're still a.." which is quite ironic considering the context of the song (hopefully deliberate ;) )

To me this seems about being stuck in a typical social clique or group or maybe even a band, full of people who don't have the motivation to do anything with their lives, people who just drift through life with the same old routine but never really get anywhere at the end of it,
And it's about being sick of this, and saying "Goodbye" to it/them all.
"Are you owned by your fears" - fears of progression, achievement, doing something new and original
"You all deserve this shallow judgement" - You're not trying, you deserve to be shunned for lack of effort

"Don't bother me with shallow alibis and filthy lies" - For me, it reminds me of being in a band where some people aren't bothering to put any effort in, (why make up excuses to why you couldn't turn up for a show or rehearsal etc, it's getting old) but it could apply to any number of situations with a group in life.

"There's nowhere to go
but up from here" - Pretty self explanatory, but yeah, sick of doing the same old thing, need to progress, the only way is up :)

Bedlight for Blue Eyes – The City and The Ghost Lyrics 12 years ago
I believe this song is about a guy who has recently broken up with a girl, and goes on a night out in the city, maybe to a club or whatever, in order to forget about her, but it's not so easy. The City and the Ghost, the ghost being the ex.

"Tonight I need the bright lights,
Still got her face on my mind.
Heading where the talk is cheap
and I'm dressed to a "t" so they won't notice me. "

He still misses her, but is heading out to the city to party

"It's warm for October
and I've got the windows down.
The skyline whispers her promises,
the same lie each night. "

He sees the skyline up ahead on his way out, but still can't forget her broken promises, maybe of being together forever or some other generic relationship shiznizz

"But I force myself to believe...

And I swore it'd be different but how could it be?
What I came to escape is right here inside of me. "

He thought he could get away from his feelings, but realizes that he can't just shake them off so easily

"The city's a desert
with photographic stars.
Each pretty face is just a mirage,
and my mouth's full of sand again. "

Basically, he's going out and getting with chicks, making out with them and whatnot, and thought they may be attractive, it's all pretty faux and meaningless.

"I look in the mirror past the buildings, the sky's getting light.
Another piece of my innocence is the admission I paid there tonight.
Slow down past her exit though it makes me sick, and I imagine her saying,
"You're better than this... you're better than this." "

He's on his way back home, out so late partying that it's almost light,
But on his way past her exit he's reminded of her, and what she would think of him now if she knew. Perhaps he even brought a chick back with him, hence losing another piece of his 'innocence'

Anyway, that's my take on it, reminds me of a situation I went through myself. if you guys at BEDlight ever check this be sure to let me know if I got it ;)
