| The Fray – All At Once Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| this song kinda perfectly reflects my love life right now. There's this guy that I really like and every time we're around each other, we flirt like i dont know what, but he keeps dating all these other girls that i really don't think I can compare too, but he keeps the door open for us to maybe be something and has since we met two years ago. we've never really out right said that we're just friends and honestly we havent really talked about our feelings at all, but its always kinda been there unspoken. now theres this other guy that i think i might be into and my friend is obviously jealous and trying to sabotage even though he's currently dating someone else and i've never done that to him so he really has no right and idk its just a mess and i really hope that it works out in the end because right now, its rough | |
| Teitur – I Was Just Thinking Lyrics | 12 years ago |

This song is so beautifully done. I agree with all the other comments, but I also think it's kind of like when you're having a late night call with the one you love and you're trying to tell them something like "this is really hard, but i still love you, but maybe we should break up, BUT I really don't want to, but maybe I could just come home because I miss you so much, but we both know I cant, and I just really want to touch you and love you" and you're trying to get all of this out, but it's so hard to say in person, much less over the phone, so you let your thoughts get side tracked and after you say something like, "maybe it'd be easier if we took a break" and the other person is like "is that really what you want" and you're like "NO! Of course not I was just thinking...you know..." basically that's what I think which is exactly what everyone else said just expanded. This song is so hauntingly beautiful though and perfectly describes a long distance relationship and rips my heart out each time. |

| The Civil Wars – Disarm (Smashing Pumpkins cover) Lyrics | 12 years ago |

To me this is a song about a guy who has known a girl since childhood and they keep trying to date, but it never quite works out and they keep killing each other slowly with heartbreak. "Disarm you with a smile And cut you like you want me to" They're on the outs again and she has her defenses up so that he won't hurt her again, but then he smiles at her, and her heart breaks because all she want's to do is be with him. Therefore, his smile and being nice to her disarms her defenses and she doesn't mind because she really wants to let him in and love him, but it hurts more and more each time. "Cut that little child Inside of me and such a part of you Ooh, the years burn" They've known each other since childhood, they know each other's deepest, darkest secrets, and they also know each other's strengths and weaknesses. They also have caused each other to loose their innocence because they have hurt each other so many times. Because of this, they are both scared emotionally and have a hard time letting people in, and this just keeps getting worse as the years go by. "The years burn", meaning that when they look back on their relationship, all they can feel is anger and pain. "I used to be a little boy So old in my shoes And what i choose is my choice What's a boy supposed to do? The killer in me is the killer in you My love I send this smile over to you" Similar to before, the singer is saying that they have lost their innocence to the other person in this relationship and they have forced them to grow up and think like an adult. "And what I choose is my choice" means that he knows he is choosing to hurt the woman he loves by getting back together with her, but he does it anyway because he can and he is selfish and wants her. This causes conflict with in him between his morals and what he wants, therefore, "what's a boy supposed to do?" This also shows that he has been doing this since they were children and knows that he has been. But they both hurt each other, therefore "The killer in me is the killer in you" because they retaliate when they are hurt and it becomes this vicious cycle. Yet they "send this smile over to you" trying to make the other believe that they don't care and the other's actions don't affect them when they do. "Disarm you with a smile And leave you like they left me here To wither in denial The bitterness of one who's left alone Ooh, the years burn Ooh, the years burn, burn, burn" Similar to before, they are in this vicious cycle of abuse and retaliation, but they don't want to believe that they are in an abusive relationship, so they "wither in denial, the bitterness of one who's left alone" Basically I think this song can be interpreted to be about two people who have loved each other since childhood, but abuse each other at the same time. they come into eachother's lives when they are at their lowest, build them back up again, and then leave the other there to fall, and they fall harder than before and they are left alone to pick up the pieces. Overall, this song breaks my heart, because I have been in this exact type of relationship and I know how hard it is to get out of it. |
