I like to think this part is a reference to Mike TV from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory: Look at me! I'm on TV! It makes up for the shortcomings of being poor Now I'm in a million pieces |

My favorite part of this song is the spoken bit In a town so small there's no escaping you In a town so small there's no escape from view In a town so small there's nothing left to do I believe this is spoken by Isobel Campbell (cellist), who was involved in a romantic relationship with Stuart Murdoch (lead singer), both of whom lived in Glasgow, Scotland. The relationship was fraught with difficulty and I like to think that this part refers to how sometimes people keep a doomed relationship going because they can't get enough separation from the other person--they keep ending up back together again. By the way, there's an interview where Isobel claims that she is the one who had the dream (dream number one) about the comedian, but Stuart, who wrote the song, denies that it is written about her. |

| I'm pretty sure that is Isobel Campbell. She's the band's cellist. | |

| Agreed--I just edited the lyrics above and took it out. | |

| It sounds like the lead singer (Stuart Murdoch) saying something to the band to close out the song... I can't tell what is said, but it sounds vaguely like "that's it." | |

| You are definitely not the only person! Don't worry about what is normal--the music is amazing. | |
