I think the song is his call for his father. "Bring me close to love, would you give me a reason to believe" would be asking him to give him a reason to believe that he really loves him. "Love, loved you've claimed was just a whisper" because all the love his father gave him could have been fake. And you could "find him on broadway" because everything he said lovingly was acting, it wasn't genuine. |

I think..that the song is honestly a love song, plain and simple.
But looking further in to it, it reminds me of lgbt. "I don't care if heaven won't take me back", because a lot of people say god 'hates gays'. |
