| Sugar – Can't Help You Anymore Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| Great bouncy happy song about the other side of a relationship from the side that Bob usually takes, this time he doesn't care anymore and the quicker the other person goes the better, there's nothing they can do or say that matters anymore. | |
| Sugar – Panama City Motel Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| For once Bob Mould just writing a song about something obvious, no relationships, no metaphors, just about a bad experience having to stay in dive motel 'cos he's not got enough money to stay anywhere better. | |
| Sugar – Gift Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| The dynamics in the rhythm are just brilliant, that split second rest everyone takes at the end of every bar during the opening section is just superb. | |
| Sugar – Gee Angel Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| Trying to keep up with someone who you've managed to get with but they're so out of your league you just can't keep up and it falls apart. | |
| Sugar – If I Can't Change Your Mind Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| Pure denial song, ha ha! A little conceited too. Even though it's so obviously over I still think I'm so great that I can still make you stay. The middle section is pure denial, "when you return you'll see how great I was waiting for you to come back 'cos I knew you'd come back". | |
| Sugar – Changes Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| People change, situations change and they change people. Sometimes you have to change and compromise to keep going with another person if not then you need to call it day, start again with somebody new if the changes are not what you're prepared to accept. | |
| Sugar – The Act We Act Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| Song about when a relationship is so obviously over but both parties won't admit it, acting like nothing's wrong. Stop the pretence and go your separate ways. | |
| Sugar – Granny Cool Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| Great little track, all about how some famous people should just act their age because they look so stupid trying act 18 when it's so obvious they're not anymore. | |
| Tool – Vicarious Lyrics | 12 years ago |

Simple enough, as human beings we watch others to judge our own behaviour in comparison. The problem is that in today's 24 hour media society we've become obsessed with the miniutae of watching others suffer but we can do it "from a safe distance" and no one needs to know how much we enjoy it.TV, newspapers, websites, it's all there, all the gory, nasty detail we could ever want to revel in and with no strings attached! You ask anyone if they enjoyed it and they will all say, "Oooh no! It's disgusting and tragic. I can't understand why.", just admit you enjoyed watching someone else suffer and be thankful it wasn't you! Brilliant track. |

| Sylosis – Teras Lyrics | 12 years ago |

Simple enough, look at the mess we're making of our world, celutards, wars, environmental abuse, we'd better wake up and shape up before it's too late. Brutal riff fest that blows your head off when you crank it up. Superb track, my favourite on the album. |

| Sylosis – Oath Of Silence Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| One of the few metal tracks I have to admit that almost has me in tears! LOL! The lyrics just scream for someone's absolution and the guitar work on the outro is enough to almost make this old metalhead cry! | |
| Slayer – Exile Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
When work is too much on any given day, this track goes on! A song about it getting to the point that someone is going to "get it" if you don't all back off and leave me the fuck alone! |

| Romeo Must Die – Let Them Hate Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
Comes from an old latin saying, supposedly from Julius Ceasar though more likely from one of his scholars. "oderint dum metuant" - Let them hate, as long as they fear. |

| Romeo Must Die – All Life Ends In Failure Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
No matter how hard you try, eventually your body will give up the fight and you will die. Take all the pills and special diets, nothing will help you. Keep fighting all you like but your body parts fail and break down...it all ends in failure no matter how hard you try to fight it. So be happy and enjoy it while you can! Brilliant stuff! |

| Romeo Must Die – 15 Minutes of Shame Lyrics | 12 years ago |

Probably one of the best anti-"cult of celbrity" songs ever! "Celebutards" constantly obsessed with themselves and what others think of them, they command the press and what do they do? Bang on about how great they are and flash their bits at 2am outside some club, while completely drunk and that is news worthy? You command the press and the people who listen, how about you try and do something worthwhile with all that influence you shallow morons? |

Rickles nailed it perfectly! I love that summation man, brilliant! This isn't just about the so called "lost generation", if there is such a thing, it's about kids not getting to be kids anymore. Parents pushing kids harder and harder to conform, I see it all the the time at work from my co-workers. Extra classes, after school activities that cost a fortune, every night of every week. Extra learning classes to make sure their kid is in the top 5% of the school. "They missed the grades by 2%? Shit! They must have a deficiti disorder, quick! Pump 'em up with some happy pills, gotta make the grades! How will they make it to university and life they life I want them too?!" When they hit puberty, bang! Hormones don't react well with some drugs and teenage angst and frustration is no match for pushy parents! As Rickles said, there's no shame in being normal and living happy content life, you cannot be perfect in everything, some of us are not cut out to be perfect A+ students and perfect people. We need flaws in our characters to ensure we're unique and not just bred like a load of clones, some of us are happy to be mediocre in some things, poor in others and great others still. Being like that will make you a better person, being top of the class makes you frustrated that you never got a chance to make your own decisions. I love the lyrics: "I'm through with pornography .... Explicitly dull Arousal annulled." Brilliant turn of phrase that Steve Wilson spits out so rapidly. |

| Pain of Salvation – Cribcaged Lyrics | 12 years ago |

Whenever I think the world has finally lost it, throw on a PoS track and it all makes sense, we nasty little creatures with nasty habits. Love this track! As Newt has summed it up perfectly I simply add my thoughts. Reality TV, moronic 15 second personalities that have no personality, people obsessed with what others have and they want, materialistic morons craving crap that they think will make their lives somehow better. How about we try to instill some worth, common sense and consideration into our kids as we raise them? Not teach them that materialistic obsession is the key to a happy life. |

| Marillion – Assassing Lyrics | 12 years ago |

To me it's about how words have the power to make or break someone, especially when those words might be shared via the press to an impressionable audience who don't have all the facts. You don't need violence to solve problems, a word in the right ear then made public will injure someone far more harshly. A modern version of the phrase, "The pen is mightier than the sword.". Fish's masterful lyrics, they're so razor sharp they could slice through sheet metal when he sings! Ha ha! |

| Marillion – Punch And Judy Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
Mid-life crisis, half your life gone and nothing to show. A shrew for a wife who does nothing but nag. It started off fine, lots of walks in the park, sex and love but what went wrong? There's one way to solve the problem, get rid of his wife and everything will sort itself out. I remember listening to this when I was about 14 and thinking that all marriages must be like this! Well I got to 40 and while some bits have a small ring of truth, life's what you make it. You make bad choices with your partner ( pick beauty over brains ) and they might come true! LOL! |

| Jethro Tull – Steel Monkey Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
Brilliant track! Proved there was still lots of life left in the old dogs! To me a it's a song about builders on skyscrapers in big cities. How do those buildings get put up? Someone has to be up there, riviting girders together before the rest of the structure gets added, hundreds up feet up in the air with nothing except maybe a tether line to stop you falling to your death on the streets below. It might have been written about 1920's and 1930's America when cities where screaming up a huge rate but could equally apply to today with buildings that are much taller than back then, even more dangerous to a 1,000 ft in the air. |

| Jesus Jones – Magazine Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
Love this song! It's about how during the 1990s there was a massive surge in the number of publications available on magazine shelves, you could get magazines on making cakes to making war, from models with matchsticks to models that look like matchsticks. "From the absurd to the obscene" The darker side is that they paint these wonderful images, that your life will not be complete unless you live like these people in these magazine. "All of life in fun size...And you can win this great prize" Everything's wonderful and the magazine only cares about the subject it discusses the rest of your life means nothing when compared to the subject in the magazine, very narrow field of view in a magazine. "It's just like the real thing...But better looking" Ultimately you never get anything from them though, they are just to kill time and most of the time they are a waste of time. "And I know that I'm impatient but there isn't really time To have all these ideas going through my mind" |

| U2 – Where The Streets Have No Name Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| When I was a teenager we'd had a dog for close on 16 years, she was born just after me. In the space of 2 weeks she just deterioted to the point where she couldn't even stand up. My Mum didn't want to but she had to take the dog to the vets for the final time. My Mum told me she was going and I happened to be listening to the this song. Now it always makes me cry when II hear it and I always think about Elsa our dog. The song is so full of hope and makes me hope that Elsa our dog maybe found happiness again. | |
| The Mission UK – Tower of Strength Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| Reminds me of my wife. We've been together since we were teenagers, which is well over 20 years now. It always makes me cry when I listen to it as every word reminds me of how much she means to me, how much support we've given each other. | |
