| Sleeping with Sirens – Fire Lyrics

'Fire' is about cutting, or self harm. It 'feels something like fire' so that it feels right until it 'burns' (could also include literal burning intended for self harm). The act of self harm changes you so you can't 'remain the same'. |

| Being As An Ocean – If They're Not Counted, Count Me Out Lyrics

I love this song so much. So true. It's a non traditional way of looking at salvation - I think, with logic instead of blind 'faith'. Many people might say this is wrong, but I love his acceptance at the end - how he says that who is most important to him is worth damnation. There is so much power in his words. |

I think this is about a failed relationship. Their relationship hasn't worked and something happened to make him mad at his partner - they left him or had a big fight. So he traps his partner (I've got you in the palm of my hand) and tries to make them commit suicide with him (I want you to jump/sing/scream with me). They don't, so he kills them (the dead just like you) and then kills himself (my body's failing, I think I've hit the floor, I cannot feel anything anymore) and in his last moments he thinks how, when he is dead, he'll miss his significant other (I'm gonna miss your face/taste) |

| We Came As Romans – Beliefs Lyrics

For me, I can see the song as someone questioning their faith and being disillusioned with what they've believed all their lives (their religion), only to realize they no longer hold the same view. They are angry with how they've been raised to believe what they do ('who steals my years to keep it to themselves' - parents and others forcing them to believe what they do) because it affects their entire worldveiw ('is it only just the ground we stand upon?'). They then come to the conclusion that, at least, they are not meaningless, even if they no longer believe what they did. |

The piano in this song is great. The song itself is very simple, and that helps communicate what the lyrics are saying - that he wants to be free of his guilt. The violin adds a sorrowful feeling that contrasts with the fast piano and creates a halloween-esque sound. |

One great aspect of the song is where she chooses to breathe - after the second word in every verse and continuing after that. Her breaths are short and deliberate which adds to the meaning - feel that she needs to get away. The river - swift, strong, and rapid - is like her breaths and nicely contrast with the slow tempo of the song. |
