Well, I think there is a deeper story here... There is a lonely guy and he is up late watching something like a webcam girl. It starts off as his commentary of what he sees and what he assumes about her - like she was a bad girl who didn't get a chance to be a prom queen, now she is being people's wet dreams. As the song progresses, he becomes more attached and infatuated with her. He becomes frustrated because he is 'no one's boy' and she could be his and this is apparent with is cry of anguish (Oooh OOOOH)... As the 'show' ends he starts becoming desperate "Hey hey, don't walk away from me" and "I found you" (on the web) and "I can find you". There is futility in the crush, and the singer knows it, but the desire for her is also fleeting as he can always find her or someone else that's the same. |

I think the song is about a guy who is in love with a girl who has led 'no celebrate life'. The first verse, talking about her 'four day affair' and the 'gold plated legs of my rival' imply he has desired her, but just watches as she has fling after fling. The song is about what he wants to say to her 'remeber the girls in the middle are always the first to fall off' as well as what he observes about her life and the narrative he assumes applies to her. Despite the obvious sadness and longing there is an ambivalence to her, which is probably why he hasn't been one of the flings. He wants to love her, but he can't because she won't love him exclusively. |
