The intensity of this cut blows me away even though it is such a mellow tune. Euphoric.

St. Vincent – Prince Johnny Lyrics 11 years ago
He's a self-important person with a conquerors mentality that deep down is lost and a a liar. Like Pinocchio, deep down he thinks he's phony. She won't lower herself to being mistreated or not an equal, but deep down she's lost and wants to be important, i.e. treated like a princess. The Prince of a King = someone important in line for the throne. We're all sons of someones. . . But we self-loath and devalue others instead of loving ourselves and those around us. Translation = people with Mommy & Daddy issues that can't get by them and choose destruction instead.

St. Vincent – Surgeon Lyrics 13 years ago
This song has absolutely nothing to do with sex.

This song is about depression.

She spent the summer on her back, in bed, not doing anything. The tv is off. The reference to blue and red are pills. . . just to get along. anti-depressants, anit-anxiety red and blue pills.

She doesn't want to talk to her Mother.

She doesn't want to talk to the mailman.

She's staring at the walls trying to make it through the day.

She wishes a surgeon would come and cut out the bad part of her, the depression. So do I.
