Whitney Houston – Greatest Love Of All Lyrics 5 years ago
@[Sunnyhill:34711] I was just thinking about this -- how the real message of this song is about self love but so many ppl think it's a sort of "save the children's athem"...which it can be too because we need self love to truly ever "save the children".
I came to good old songmeanings.net (now.com? Or this a mandela effect?) and see this comment and feel so validated haha. I used to love this website when I was younger, now rap genius is the go-to maybe I'm screaming into the void but I hate rap genius.

Lorde – The Love Club Lyrics 12 years ago
I think this is about the experience of dating and relationships, specifically when we enter "the scene" of them.

Dating is almost like this cool club, this thing we can't wait to do once we are old enough. We see it on tv and and it's so glamorous **~~love~~** With shows like Gossip Girl, The OC, Degrassi (can't think of anymore current ones), we have this culture of young adults dating being so cool, we covet it. But, the reality of dating and relationships is not as easy; heartbreak doesn't have a cool montage. In this way, it's like a gang. We want to be in so bad, but then once we're in we realize all the cons, and all the ways we can get hurt.

I think that the title "The Love Club" is an allusion to the film "Fight Club". She compares love and relationships, in some ways, to a fight club where we sometimes let ourselves get beat up and hurt to stay in the club we wanted so badly to be in. The music video shows people throwing punches and play fighting with the air.

Perhaps, too, not just dating is to be considered as part of this "Love Club". The lyrics talk a lot about friendships,

"There are fights for being my best friend
And the girls get their claws out
There's something about hanging out with the wicked kids
Take the pill make it too ill
The other day I forgot my old address
I'm sitting pretty on the throne
There's nothing more I want
Except to be alone"

Reminds me a lot of the fast paced gossipy backstabbing friendships we see in the shows I mentioned above. I think this type of relationship also ought to be considered a part of the "Love/Fight Club".

Paul McCartney – Let Me Roll It Lyrics 12 years ago
I'm not one to always find songs to be drug related. BUT, in this case, it sounds me as though someone is expressing how they can only communicate with a significant other while smoking the weedy weedums.

The Beatles – Hey Jude Lyrics 13 years ago
To me it seems like Jude is someone who suffers from depression and anxiety, and lets these things get in the way of being with the person he loves. I think this song is trying to tell him that cutting things out of his life will not help him. Rather, the only way things can start to get better, is by letting this person into his heart (remember to let her into your heart / then you can start to make it better).
The song seems to me to serve as a general reminder to not let this person (Jude) dwell on their sadness (And anytime you feel the pain, hey Jude, refrain / Don't carry the world upon your shoulders).
