I suspect that this song is about some sort of disaster, probably being covered up by the government and with minimal details being fed to nervous people with "fish fingers all in a line" and "glued to their tv sets" to get the details on whether or not they're going to survive...The title might be a reference to someone who might once have been an adventurous, self-sufficient sort of individual, but is now reliant upon external sources for information about such crucial details as whether or not he or she will even be able to survive ("milk bottles all stand empty", "next week will solve your problems")...Seems to be a statement about the incompetence of modern people and their dependance upon some authoritative information source to guide them throughout even their most basic aspects of daily life (especially in times of strife). |

Wonderfully interesting and unconventional song structure for a pop track, and wildy expressive and creative lyrics. This album is really under-rated, if you ask me. |

I'm about 90% sure this song is about Twin Peaks. Also, Beach House's new video for "Wishes" features the actor who played Leland Palmer, which may indicate that the band is in fact a fan of the show. |

Possibly my favorite song of theirs ever. Lyrically and musically--so abstract, yet so tied together. Beach Boys-esque harmonies, yet in the absence of any real vocal rhyme scheme or structure, and with no choruses (not that anyone would notice, because the song is such pure pop). Truly an experiment in the outer reaches of pop brilliance...a peak in the history of pop/shoegaze/noise/experimental/indie/whatever-genre-you-can-think-of-or-want-to-deem-it.
