I think this is referring to Sherri's baby, Lucy. The first few lines I think could refer to the baby in the womb; a dreamlike, not quite real state. "You're Poseidon, and I'm dyin' with my teeth on your smile I walk my feet on your mile" Could refer to the biological and metaphorical connection between mother and the baby; she has her smile, she might walk in her footsteps. "I'll be the birds and the bees, from my prison that I can't leave" I think refers to the baby in the womb again; the prison she can't leave, the baby being the end result of the "birds and the bees". I think the chorus refers to the childbirth itself; the baby is born, headfirst and "upside-down", crying and "burning" with the air around her and filling her lungs. Her mind and consciousness of the person she will be not there yet, "head in the clouds". The bridge I think would referring to the hope and promise of the baby, "feet growing long, in the way the vine grows strong", as well as her innocence and preciousness to her mother: "Hold me high tonight, I won't lie to you, don't lie to me." |

Definitely one of my favorite Eisley songs. Strikes a chord in me. I personally feel that it's describing the early stages of a relationship, the stage before one becomes "official" and "committed" to it. A relationship with someone you find you actually really like a lot. I think it's suggested that the singer experienced a few disappointments in the past, but upon seeing/meeting this new person, had a renewed hope; "lit up like a fire", "came alive", was refreshed again by the feeling of really liking someone and the possibility of starting a new relationship. ("the tree of life is what you are") The singer knows what she feels, but can't be sure of her interest's feelings; she wishes and hopes that he feels the same way, even though he expresses that his feelings are genuine: "You take the pain away, oh, baby, it's (his feelings are) not a game." He's still a little unsure though, because he maybe isn't sure of how to go about this new relationship, is "not sure what's required", or whether or not he's "expected to be forthright". But the singer obviously wants to start the relationship for real; they're not truly together yet "you're so profound, but you're not found", but if he would just get over his hesitations, she'd claim him in a second. Just my take on it anyways. I think Sherri is a little more literal in her lyrics than Stacy. |

I kind of think rather, that it's the aftermath of a relationship in which the person who Stacy is singing to messed up badly enough to ruin the relationship. She's trying to tell herself and convince herself that she will never see him again; that she'll make sure she never sees him again. But even as she's hating him, loathing him, she still feels for him, still is haunted by him, still wants/needs him on some level. She feels like he's gotten away even though she knows she has to make sure she doesn't see him again because of what he's done. And even though she is angry at him and knows its the right thing to do, to push him away, she knows she can't help but feel sorry once it sinks in, now that she's all alone. |

| Sucre – No Return Lyrics | 13 years ago |

I think this song is definitely about the aftermath of a breakup. In my mind it's a relationship that's been going through rough times, and they're tried again and again to fix things, but in the end one or both of them just gave up and stopped trying. Just after it's ended, she doesn't quite know what to do; she wanders the streets for a while, but inside she is just devastated by her emotions. She realizes that there's no turning back, no return; what's done is done, and things will never be the same again no matter what. She and her now-ex are both lost to each other. How am I to face me? The embers have gone from my eyes Perhaps I'll throw a soirée And kiss every man I invite She's trying to deal with the loss, the feeling of emptiness, entertaining the idea of going wild and partying to see if it will help. She realizes, however, that both she and her ex are now moving on to something better; that it was devastating, but in the end, it was hopeless to continue, and its for the best. |
