I think it means to just calm down, not worry so much, and just be next to someone who makes you happy. Similar to "Hakuna Matata", but also with the added element of being with someone you care about. Well, I suppose, in a way, Hakuna Matata is like that, too, in that Timon, Pumbaa, and Simba all value each other's friendships, but that part is not sung, it's shown. They all live in the jungle together, and they're all loyal to one another. "Chasing Cars" could apply to any variety of love, be it friendship love (like what I just said about Timon, Pumbaa & Simba), parent-child love (my mom & I sing this together sometimes), pet-human love (as many people have said, possibly a dog and master), sibling love (depends on the siblings and the moment, I guess...I've never had a sibling living in my house, but, while I have older brothers that were grown before I was born, I still wish I had a younger sibling, it's lonely being the only kid in the house, especially since I've always been EXTREMELY young-at-heart and no-one ever truly understands me), other family love, or, yes, romantic love (Timon & I). |

This stupid annoyingness has been on and off stuck in my head for 3 days now. Luckily, it's beginning to show signs of GOING THE HECK AWAY. I hate this song. I'd rather listen to a choir made up of Barney, Justin Bieber, Mitt Romney, and Herman Cain, and they're all singing a mash-up of "I Love You, You Love Me", "Baby", "America the Beautiful - the Romney Rendition", and "Amazing Grace - the 9-9-9 Way!!!". Anyway, in addition to this song being repetitive (it's rare when a song is too repetitive for ME, but this hits that right in the annoying zone!!!), it's also questionable. Think deeply into the song: - When "bar" and "feel like falling down" are in the same vicinity as each other, chances are good that by "falling down", they REALLY mean "blacking out". I only know this through things like news reports of idiot parents, idiot motorists, idiot...well, basically, idiots. - Obviously, the guy has caused the girl some kind of harm, be it emotional, physical, or psychological, and is just an abusive jerk trying to lure her back in again with the promise of a fun time. Again, news reports tell me of such things. - His friends are "getting higher than the Empire State"...obviously, his friends are doin' drugs in the bathroom...and this guy needs to get his metaphors straight, because, really...that is two different meanings of the same word. Like a more extreme example of the kid on the bus one time, when I was little, who said the driver's breath was "so hot, it could melt a hard candy on a winter day!". - Other questionable things you'll notice if you go deep enough. Here are some things I've made up using the chorus: 1. Toni-i-ight, we are young...so let's not sing this song. If you're young, you should preserve your innocence. As well as other's sanity. 2. I-I-I-I-I hate this song! I wanna set this song on fire, send it down there, to Ha - des! I think my mind has been spoken. Now, to listen to GOOD songs!!! |

| Maybe I should specify which part of Disney it reminds me of. For those of you who haven't seen The Lion King 1 1/2, don't read the rest of this, it contains spoilers...the reason Timon left his meerkat colony was b/c he felt overworked and not loved enough. He felt overworked b/c he could not perform "traditional" work, such as digging tunnels and sentry duty. He just wanted a worry-free life, w/o all that responsibility and all those hyenas. He felt like he wasn't loved enough b/c everybody besides his mother was either ticked off at him or making fun of him. I make connections to Disney that others might not notice. Anyway, this song reminds me of Timon's backstory a little bit. | |
