| Passion Pit – Make Light Lyrics | 10 years ago |
| I never saw this as an actually happy song. The beat and chords are very giddy, but I thought this song was about being suicidal. Something has come back from his past that has hurt him and ruined his current life. when he says "Tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life" I believed he was talking about taking the weight off of his shoulders by killing himself. | |
| Baths – Heart Lyrics | 10 years ago |
| @[highschoollover:3630] I believe it is a bit deeper than discovering it. It's more about him coming out about it. "Meet in the night like this is wrong." He is saying that they see each other in private as if they are ashamed of their relationship and then goes on to say that he is no longer afraid of what others thing and wants to come out, or also could simply be saying he knows he's gay and doesn't want to pretend to be anything else. | |
| Tune-Yards – Wooly Wolly Gong Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| Pretty sure this would give my children nightmares. so. | |
| Tune-Yards – Es-So Lyrics | 11 years ago |
|
This clears up so much. I thought the song said Es-so, es-so Pudding pie and Es-so, es-so Do or die and Es-so, es-so A baby's cry I gotta be right if my body is tired, right? Es-so, es-so A piece of cake and Walk a mile around the lake and ????? climb up high I gotta be right if my body is tired, right? Sometimes I've got the jungle under my skin Drive up the skin and stick a fucking fork in Baby bottle in a wave of disgust 'I can't believe I ate the whole thing' Es-so, es-so Me and you Love each other through and through It is true, Daddy It is true, Daddy I ran over my own daughter with my own car Es-so, Es-so Feelin' free and i thought it was about a mother driven crazy by the responsibility dropped on her by having a child, and it's neediness for her turns into constant crying and whining that pushes her over the edge and she kills the baby. |

| St. Vincent – The Party Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| She is cheating on her abusive husband, or thinking about it anyway, but she's very nervous | |
| St. Vincent – Black Rainbow Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| She is depressed about her abusive lifestyle with her husband, feeling trapped. The bird symbolizes her internal conflict with her feeling of depression. | |
| St. Vincent – Actor Out of Work Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| She is in love with someone, as someone said before me, who isn't all that. In this case her abusive husband mentioned in earlier songs. The album is a sort of story if you listen. | |
| St. Vincent – The Neighbors Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| Everything is supposed to be perfecta and wonderful, but she's really living with an abusive husband. She wishes someone would figure this out but feels helpless to tell people the truth because everything is supposed to be completely perfect and wonderful and all happy when it isn't but she pretends it is. | |
| St. Vincent – Save Me From What I Want Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| also he tries to hide his anger and his rage that he builds up around others, so they don't know. This also correlates with The Neighbors, in which he or she doesn't want everyone to know that truth behind the relationship, they want it to look perfect and cut copy. | |
| St. Vincent – Save Me From What I Want Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| I believe her husband abuses her, but she chooses to ignore it and stay within this relationship. She tries to forget when he hits her, (washes it away). This can correlate to the whole album, which i believe is about a depressed housewife. | |
| St. Vincent – The Strangers Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| To me, this whole album is a story. This song is about her marrying a man and realizing she doesn't know him as much as she thought. As he shows his true colors, his true identity and person gets hazier to her hence the black hole. but she married him and stays in the relationship, leading to Save Me from What I Want, where she tries to leave but is caught in the morning when he awakens to hear her jangling keys. Black rainbow is her being depressed, and there is possibly an abusive relationship until The Bed ends in some sort of tragedy, I'm still figuring it all out. | |
| Purity Ring – Lofticries Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| It is about incestuous rape. The situations aren't in sequential order, and aren't about the same people, but they all hold certain situations that apply to the actual story. A girl is raped by her brother or possibly was slightly accepting of it but then backed out and he did not stop. this sex is portrayed by the car scene. Then, she gets pregnant. (the last scene). She has the baby, and also out of anger kills her brother(the dead body). But, possibly the pool could have symbolized the womb, and maybe she attempts to abort the baby? The boy does prod the body with a stick, possibly symbolizing the coat hanger method of abortion. | |
| Purity Ring – Lofticries Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| This song is about incestuous rape. The music video also matches up mostly, as it shows two pregnant people (I'm assuming they were impregnated by the rape) and others who seem angry or very ashamed by the births and/or pregnancies. The murder scenario actually clears up a lot for me, mostly for the video, since in one instance a boy pokes a dead body in a pool of mossy water and it does not seem to have any relatable instances like the other two situations shown. | |
| Passion Pit – Sleepyhead Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| So i think the alien voice at the beginning is saying "Beings in my heart", and also the higher part, "we come in peace". Just a thought. | |
