Mimicking Birds – Burning Stars Lyrics 12 years ago
"Shining brightly making sure you dont float too far" This seems to be a nautical reference (ships used to use the stars to navigate).

Anyone know who Melissa is? Her name is referenced in a couple of songs.

Brand New – Jaws Theme Swimming Lyrics 12 years ago
Yesterday I was watching a show on ID Discovery about a woman who had trouble with her mom. She ran away with no notice for 5 years and was presumed dead. she returned and in the process, grew up. My first thought was this song, being as it is from the mother's point of view.

Aesop Rock – Take Me to the Basement Lyrics 12 years ago
This is probably the most meaningful/beautiful song that has ever crossed my ears. I think it is about being real and sticking to your roots. Staying with your "basement". "If you choose to build or you'll die by the tools you build with" i think this means you either need to build (stay on track) or lose yourself (die) trying to find a meaning

Marietta – Yeah Yeah Utah Lyrics 13 years ago
It sounds like he is talking about a car accident. I probably think this because of the highway refferences.

"Every sort of person looked like hell
With their hands in their pockets
And the marks on their scalp"

Everyone looked like they've been through hell. The marks on their scalps might be injuries.

"I couldn't breathe under all of that weight, and the things that we've seen.
With all the dead, with their hats on their chest, and their thoughts in the leaves."

The weight of what he saw pushes on him. The things he has seen are dead bodies with their "thoughts" (aka brains) on the side of the road.

...just my 2 cents
