Damien Rice – Cheers Darlin' Lyrics 12 years ago
Damien tells the story of the song when he plays this song live. It is complete with props- wine and cigarettes and sometimes when he tells it in third person he gets a girl to come up on stage too.

Look up a recent live version of this on YouTube for the story!

Damien Rice – Accidental Babies Lyrics 12 years ago
This could be totally wrong but today I read an interview with Damien Rice. It was the first one he had done in years since he didn't speak with press during the release of 9. He talked a lot about his relationship with Lisa, both personal and professional.

One thing he said that got me thinking was how they would sing songs about each other on stage every night and it was awkward sometimes if they were fighting

I have a strong feeling this is one of them and here's why

This song seems to be about people involved in relationships but also being with eachother on the side. One of them longs for more, or a more closed relationship, but doesn't know.

In the interview, he said both he and Lisa had been romantically involved with other people while they were in the band together but also were romantically involved with each other. In the interview he made it clear that he really loves her and "feels like an asshole" for kicking her out and all that. I think he is saying in the song that he wants a more concrete relationship with her because they've been "together" for so long

"Well I know I make you cry
And I know sometimes you wanna die
But do you really feel alive without me?
If so, be free
If not, leave him for me
Before one of us has accidental babies
For we are in love"

He's saying basically "don't disregard the feelings we share"

The "I know I make you cry..." Etc part refers to their disagreements on the road.

It seems rude to assume but that's my interpretation of it.

Panic! at the Disco – But It's Better If You Do Lyrics 13 years ago
This song makes me think of the movie "Moulin Rouge!"

If you haven't seen Moulin Rouge!, it is basically about a guy, Christian, who is a writer. He comes to a strip joint, the Moulin Rouge, to work on a play. The first day he's there, he is mistaken for the Duke and is set up for an appointment with the most sought-after prostitute of the club, Satine. Christian thinks it's a poetry reading, and she thinks he's a client. He recites/sings Your Song by Elton John. Satine quickly confesses her love for him referring to him as the Duke but he tells her he isn't the Duke. She can't be with him and he wants her, but he doesn't have the money to pay.

"Oh, but I'm afraid that I
Well, I may of faked it
And I wouldn't be caught dead in this place" ------ Christian realizes Satine thinks he's the Duke and it isn't a poetry reading.

"Praying for love and a lap dance and paying in naivety." --------- Christian loves Satine but he can't pay, only in naivety.

"And isn't this exactly where you'd like me" ---- Possibly what Christian thinks, kind of like 'Oh, you wish I was the Duke.'

"Somewhere downtown where a burlesque queen may even ask my name
As she sheds her skin on stage
I'm seated and sweating to a dance song on the club's P.A." -------- When Christian first sees Satine, she is singing and dancing, and she is all over him in the crowd.

So that's my interpretation of the song, I hope it's not too far fetched.
