| Lyle Lovett – Fiona Lyrics | 11 years ago |
It's funny, that ten years after your comment I finally come along to correct your misinterpretation of what you heard. The line is..... "Bartender set em up are my favorite words." not "Boy I tend to set em up....." |

| Alice Cooper – Nurse Rozetta Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| Wow...did you have a pirate copy from China? I bought this album (yes the album, long before CD's) and the lyrics were correct. | |
| Alice Cooper – Be My Lover Lyrics | 13 years ago |
One of my favorite parts of this song is at the end. Neil Smith (drummer) drops a stick and it falls thru the drum kit and you can clearly hear it....and they decided it sounded too cool to take out. ....And I'm still on my .... ownnnnnnnnnnnnnn (click click click) ....owwnnnnnnnnn!!!!!!!! |

| Warren Zevon – Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| Dude, Warren was NOT a mercenary at any time in his life. Stop trying to re-write his history. He was a songwriter and bad-ass rocker. | |
| Steve Goodman – City of New Orleans Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| DREAM is correct in the original Steve Goodman version. | |
| Steve Goodman – My Old Man Lyrics | 13 years ago |
A heart wrenching tribute to a great singer/songwriters late father. Never realizing what you have until it's gone. Steve laments that he never got to truly connect to his father who has recently passed away. "And now the old man's gone, and I'd give all I own To hear what he said when i wasn't listening" |

| John Prine – Six O'Clock News Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Actually...I got to investigating it a bit and found this quote from John himself from the liner notes of the album. "As a child, a neighborhood kid who was always in trouble chose me for a friend. His brothers pushed him around a lot, and his mother generally ignored him. Years later as a teenager, still always in trouble, he ended up in Juvenile Court and the prosecutor decided to tell the court and my friend, that his father was his father, but his mother was his oldest sister. No wonder he was always in trouble". ~John Prine |

| John Prine – Six O'Clock News Lyrics | 13 years ago |
6 O'clock News is about a boy who finds out that he is a result of the incestual relationship his mother had with her father. The truth is locked away in the diary which is locked away in the closet. Jimmy as he grows, finds the truth in the diary and commits suicide. "C'mon Baby, spend the night with me", would be Wanda's father speaking to her. And I've always assumed Jimmy jumped to his death. I've assumed this was the story behind this tragic song and have found multiple references to it on the web. |

| This was written with Roger Miller and reportedly is also about addiction. | |
| Warren Zevon – Things To Do In Denver When You're Dead Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Love this song and enjoy the line "I was working on a steak the other day". Warren was a creature of habit and his choice of meals was usually steak. |

| Warren Zevon – The Rosarita Beach Cafe Lyrics | 13 years ago |
That would be correct.... And another cold Dos Equis on the way (Mexican beer) |
| Warren Zevon – Poor, Poor Pitiful Me Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I believe Warren in the final verse sings the line... "She axed me if I'd beat her". Pronouncing it 'axed' instead of 'asked' leads me to believe he was approached by a black woman at the Rainbow Bar." She took him back to the Hyatt House.....and then he leaves us HANGING. Details man....we need details. |

| Warren Zevon – My Shit's Fucked Up Lyrics | 13 years ago |
YouTube has a fantastic live version of this song showing Warren on guitar picking this song out meticulously. As stated. This song was on the Life'll Kill Ya album. His exwife claims that he brought the finished CD by her house before it went out to the public and that she had an immediate bad feeling about it. The last song on the album was "Don't Let Us Get Sick". The cancer was already working on him...but he had no idea of it yet. A terrific album and an odd coincidence. Perhaps. |

| Warren Zevon – Genius Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I find the true GENIUS line in the song is this; "You broke my heart into smithereens....and that took Genius!" Warren was a rather cold hearted and self serving individual. Don't get me wrong, he's my personal songwriting God but read "I'll Sleep When I'm Dead: The Dirty Life and Times of Warren Zevon" and you'll be amazed. That line......"You broke my heart into smithereens...and that took Genius" speaks to me as a man who thought he'd always be the 'heart breaker' but had the tables turned on him and felt the 'stomach punch' that anybody who's ever had a their heart broken will understand. RIP Warren. We miss you man. |

I saw that too. "Wishing I had a warmer jacket" are the correct lyrics. Terrific song. |
| Warren Zevon – Hit Somebody Lyrics | 13 years ago |
"Take care of your teeth....that might work for you". I've been a Warren fan forever and that line still kills me. He collaborated with Mitch Albom (Of "Tuesdays with Maury" fame) on it. They wanted to write a song together. Mitch suggested a sports themed song. Warren was into the idea. Then Mitch suggested it be about hockey. Warren's reported response was "Whatever". I love that. |

| Warren Zevon – For My Next Trick I'll Need A Volunteer Lyrics | 13 years ago |
LOVE this song and especially that line. Warren was never actually a real coroner. He was given the title of coroner by a buddy who had the power to do it but he never acted as a coroner that I'm aware of. Odd story never the less. The meaning of this song for me is rather aparant and was Warren's inability to maintain a longterm healthy relationship. "It's lonely up here, when the tricks have been played, and the spotlight has faded and the dreams that we made, have fallen apart, it's lonely as hell, and there's no magic spell for a broken heart." and the line "Put me in chains, and I will escape, better not wait up, cause I might be late" tells the tale of his inability to remain faithful to any woman throughout his entire life. |
| Warren Zevon – Charlie's Medicine Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Warren's drug dealer at one point was a young kid who also worked at a pharmacy. Warren used to get his pills illegally through this kid. One day another drug dealer (or perhaps a customer) shot and killed the kid. Warren went to the funeral to show his respect. "I came to say goodbye,I'm sorry Charlie died I came to finish paying my bill" |

| Barenaked Ladies – Hidden Sun Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I'd always thought it was about his illness, thanks Impala for mentioning Kevin's comments. I love the line. "Given arrows to shoot tornadoes down" as it makes me imaging how small and powerless you must feel when you get the diagnosis. BTW....got to see the Ladies a month or two ago playing a small venue in Ludlow, Vermont. They blew the roof off. Kevin sang a few of his own but not this one. |

| Now that you mention it, Kermit would tear this one up. | |
| Barenaked Ladies – Another Spin Lyrics | 13 years ago |
This is a song about a lovesick guy who's trying to find (or perhaps is stalking) a girl who has severed ties with him. He's spinning the globe to choose the next place he'll look for her "Give the globe another spin". Her parents make up the story that she "had to relocate with a new identity" to protect her from this guy. The dad does his part to intimidate the guy or perhaps just send a messagethat he doesn't like this guy pining for his daughter "My hand crushed in his handshake". The song starts out in Alaska as this was one of the places that the globe stopped on when he spun it and it ends with where he'll go next "Are you in........Afghanistan????" Fun song by Kevin. |

Actually AjaDarko...it was a pretty dumb question and your follow up logic tells me we have one more American who's inteligence is questionable. EUROPE does not call money pounds. Folks from the United Kingdom do though. France has the franc, Sweden uses the krona..... and the list goes on. |
